Eriksen & Toby. £23M bid.

According to sources close to Dortmund a bid from the German club in the region of €12M has been tabled for Eriksen, however Ajax are allegedly holding out for €15M.

It is expected that Eriksen will demand in the region £50,000/week in wages.

We are, according to the same source trying our best to stress Dortmund as an interested has been submitted from Merseyside. Neither Ajax nor Eriksen's agent are willing to comment at this stage.

It looks like a two horse race.

If there's any truth in the Toby-interest as well it could perhaps give us the upper hand. Even the quoted combined figure of £23M could be for real, now "knowing" what Ajax wants for Eriksen.

I am obviously far too excited to make a proper, sound and unbiased judgment here, but this deal, the Eriksen one at least, could be upthere with the Suarez, Sturridge and the Coutinho ones when it comes to value for money.

Let's wait and see how it pans out. At the minute its all smoke and mirrors. I don't wanna get too excited.

Eriksen will sign for Dortmund and Alderweireld will sign for Fulham.
Probably

We only need him if suarez leaves. Otherwise the money is better spent elsewhere on defensive options.

No matter how many times posters claim that it's either Suarez or Eriksen it won't change the fact that they are two completely different footballers, playing in different positions, with different ability and roles in the team.

IF Suarez should leave Eriksen will never be seen as his replacement.

I hope suarez plays behind sturridge, with coutinho on the left. this would mean we need someone on the right, from what I have seen Eriksen is great, but not a wide player, we should invest our limited resources on someone on the right!

I get your drift, on paper that does seem a lethal pairing but wouldn't that position somehow limit Suarez in a 4-3-3?

The AM role today does demand a lot more defensively than in the past, especially in a team like the one Rodgers are trying to build and I am afraid that it would be a good waste of Suarez' talents if he was asked to fit in to that role, to many defensive duties, to much running around covering space.

Same could be said when he's being moved out on the wing but not quite in the same scale and his talent in one on ones would come in handy from the wing as he'd then often be running with the ball towards the defender instead of getting the ball with his back turned against the opponents goal.

.............................................Eriksen...............................................
Suarez...............................Sturridge....................................Coutinho

An attacking line-up that imo would compete with the best and quite impossible to close down as there is creativity, movement, goals and skill all over.

Stats for the Geeks.

Most assists made by players under 23 since 2000 in the Eredivisie:
1. Luciano Narsingh, 20. 20 assists for Heerenveen in 2011/12.
2. Christian Eriksen, 20. 17 assists for Ajax in 2011/12
3. Dusan Tadic, 22. 17 assists for Groningen in 2010/11
4. Ola John, 20. 15 assists for Twente in 2011/12
5. Luis Suarez, 21. 14 assists for Ajax in 2007/08
6. Luis Suarez, 22. 14 Assists for Ajax in 2008/09
7. Christian Eriksen, 21. 13 assists for Ajax in 2012/13
8. Filip Djuricic, 20. 12 assists for Heerenveen in 2011/12
9. Christian Eriksen, 19. 11 assists for Ajax in 2010/11
10. Wesley Sneijder, 19. 11 assists for Ajax in 2003/04
11. Salomon Kalou, 19. 11 assists for Feyenoord in 2004/05
12. Dirk Kuyt, 19. 11 assists for Utrecht in 2001/02
The likes of van der Vaart and Robben has made less than what Kuyt managed.

and we would get countered big time with such an attacking lineup meaning us leaking even more goals. Not even barca play that reckless. Its all about balance and Eriksen in that lineup would make us too unbalanced. Plus you're forgetting that Rodgers loves his welsh xavi who will more than likely play in that position. I can't see rodgers going for Eriksen at all.

Eriksen covered most ground of all during last Seasons Champions League group play. He is by no means a luxury player only, he simply works his socks off for the team too.

The fact he's got great vision, skill and overall ability as well as being a workhorse makes him one of the most obvious Rodgers signings there is, imo.

Even if we are not in for Eriksen, or got the power to beat Dortmund for his signature, I very much doubt we'll see Allen in the forward midfielder role behind the main striker. You'd at least expect your advanced midfielders to score now and then, and Allen looks about as likely to score as Lucas.
