Re: England v Andorra match thread

Why is Beckham still playing for England?

All he does is play stupid Hollywood balls to please the sponsors.

Taking into account who we are playing, we've played some terrific stuff. Great passing all round.

Can you really get excited about England v Andorra?

Re: England v Andorra match thread

This is dreadful. They'd don't need the two holding midfielders, and there's zero movment up front with Crouch.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

i'd love johnson. you just know for a fucking fact that we'll get..... OUTBID, though.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

England made a good start, but this is really dull now. We've stopped creating chances.

[/quote]Course i can. Johnson has been excellent so far. Very creative.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

Johnson is good going forward, I'd just worry about him when it's backs to the wall in the more tactical games.

Or when some nobody from Borat Land runs at him

To be fair, the vast majority of the games we play are not tactical or backs-to-the-wall. I'd be happy with Johnson - I just don't think we can afford him.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

Johnson has been excellent, I really want us to sign him.

On a side note, why is Beckham starting? To increase his cap record? A year from know, he'll be even worse off, not fit to be in a WC squad. Why not give youth a chance? Granted that there arent that many exciting young english midfielders. But a lad like Noble would have been interesting to see in a game like this.

That's true. I wouldn't fancy him away at the Nou Camp in the semi's of the CL, mind.

I'm not even sure if we're seriously in for him anyway, or why did he sign a long term deal for Pompey in Jan?

If he was pushing for a move he would have made it as comfortable as possible. Paper talk, IMO.

Agreed. I think he'd provide great width on the right overlapping Kuyt who tends to come inside. I've been very impressed with his crossing today (which is irrespective of the quality of the opposition).

Johnson has shown today that if left entirely undefended, he's got a good cross.

We've missed that crossing from Finnan. As people said, we can't afford him, but he'd be useful.

Sponsors. Wembley won't pay for itself.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

Countries like this shouldn't be playing WC qualifiers. What's the fucking point?

Improve Wayne Rooney's 'eh' goalscoring record?

Re: England v Andorra match thread

Crouch is looking like the odd man out thus far, though perhaps Capello will think his creating space in the centre, taking knocks is a job done.

The mad idealistic frog will have his way.

Still no word from him about Madrid raping the whole of Europe and bloating the transfer market with ridiculous fees. Snot fair that the English have all that money and buy the best players.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

If anyone can improve Johnson defensively its Rafa. Not worried at all.

Re: England v Andorra match thread

Johnson has been MOM so far in my opinion. Gerrard drifting out of the game after being heavily involved at the start.

The way the commentators have been making digs at the Andorran team the whole match is pretty poor form to be honest. What are they supposed to do? Come out at us all guns blazing and get beat 20 nil instead of 5?

FIFA should really consider a tiered qualifying system because there is no point in the likes of Andorra getting smashed by everyone they come up against. It doesn't improve them and it doesn't improve their opponents.
