Thought he was pretty good in the first half but lost possession repeatedly in the second. The Baros comparison is pretty apt.

He's a little brain dead isn't he?
Like I said in the match thread:
  1. He does more harm than good, especially in attack.
  2. His positioning is abysmal.
He's got a lot to learn. If anyone thinks Lucas is the one who's gonna make place when Hendo comes back, think again.

He makes these fantastic looking striding runs, and then can't figure out what to do, so he just tamely gives away possession or lets someone tackle him.

All brawn and no brain. It's really frustrating, because he looks like he could be really good, but then just isn't

Can isn't a problem people. If anything, it's heartening that he's running his lungs out under Klopp. He was certainly guilty of being a bit lethargic in the past.

He's still only 21 and has been shunted from position to position in his short time here. If he's going to make a particular position his own, there are bound to be teething issues. These aren't dissimilar to the issues Henderson had about 3 years ago - headless and sometimes bereft of ideas. If anything, Can is starting from a much higher talent base than Henderson. I think he'll be an immense player in 3 years time.

It's like night and day compared to Henderson. Can has balls, Henderson was a chicken.
Henderson played it safe all the time. Can is all action, all hero, all Hollywood balls.

His brain stops working after he's run 15 yards with the ball. I think with good coaching he could be a very good player.

True, but Henderson also ran a lot and ultimately didn't know what to do with it.

And I don't think Can is playing many hollywood balls.

Very true, Henderson took forever to grow into his role at a bigger club. Can thinks he's better than he is at this moment in time. He may well become a fantastic player but he needs to reign in his expectations of what he thinks he can do.

I used to hate playing with lads like who played like Can did tonight.

I'm still where I was with him before - utterly confused. I agree that he makes promising runs and then often doesn't know what to do, but there are some occasions when I suspect he WOULD know what to do if there was better movement around him. But I really can't figure him out - he can look great and awful and mediocre all within the same passage of play in a game.

I have seen Can get past players, but it is that final ball that is the issue, and he has got to learn to release the ball early. Having said that - I think there are 2 other players in our team who also need to pass that early ball than try hogging onto it.
