messi apparently

He goes down too. They all do. Bastards. Im glad Madrid won, fucking at least i'll get a break from constant bandwagon Barcelona admirers spouting on as if their way is the only fucking way to play football. Its insufferable at times.

but is it worse than having to listen to jose the cunt ?

I actually dont mind him. And anyway he's stopped talking to the press in spain because he claims they misinterpret everything he says. Karanka takes all the press conferences now. However I suspect this victory might be to sweet for him to keep quiet on. He is a great manager though. The difference in the madrid side tonight and the one that got walloped 5 nil last year is so different, regardless of how much the team cost. Last year they were individuals, this year they are most definitely a team.

I like Hose and I like Ronaldo.

There you go.

I also like Gary Neville so fuck thou is all I've gotta say to you.

Yup. Earlier in the season they had Fabregas and Sanchez scoring a few. In previous seasons Pedro and Villa.

Right now the other players are not contributing enough. They are not at their best but they've created enough chances in the last game and a half to win but no one can score.

Frustrating game to watch as someone wanting Barca to win. Mourinho is going to be insufferably smug.

They need Carroll... Lets write to Pep...

I think the difference is Barcelona don't have the edge they did last year. Barca have proved it this year in the Classicos leading up to this one that they dominate Madrid when they play well, no matter what madrid do as individuals or a team.

Anyone else get the feeling Barca weren't that interested in this game? I'm not saying they didn't care about winning, but it just seems like they've had enough of the chase ...

All in all that was a pretty crap game.

The commentator did my head in as well with his constant OTT ramblings.

I just do what is in the best interests of my club.

There was one time when he proclaimed a Messi pass to be "out of this world" and then the resulting block by the defender to be "phenomenal".

In reality the pass was shite and the block was one in which even Titus Bramble could of pulled off easily.

to be fair the messi pass was pretty special and the run by alves matched it.

barca look dead on their feet and it looks like they have run out of ideas, they need to raise themselves one more time to see off chelsea

I think you're right. They're always exposed at the back - we've seen it happen so often - but the quality of their possession and attacks mean that they've usually crushed the life out of the opposition before it can really do that much damage. Against Chelsea and Madrid they lacked that edge they normally have and that made defending easier and less soul destroying for their opponents.

Ultimately they've played a lot of games this season, the squad isn't deep enough and in the absence of David Villa there is an over reliance on Messi in attack. Plus Guardiola is too stubborn at times.

I think they'll struggle against Chelsea again.

Barcelona are being undone by counter-attacking football, an age old ploy.

They'll work it out no doubt, I'd expect to see their full backs in a more withdrawn role in the upcoming games.

Its not as cut and dry as that though. 109 goals (a la liga record before the season ends) and theyve gone to the camp nou and pretty much wrapped up the league. Based on the whole season Madrid have been the better team in the league. Yeah maybe Messi didnt play well but when he doesn't play well Barca arent as good as everyone makes them out to be, I hate stats but I think their win rate is something like 30% when he misses games so you can see why. I doubt very much they weren't interested in this game. 4 points behind your arch rivals at home with a chance to claw back a gap that was 12 points a month ago to one. I just dont see it being a throw away game for them sorry.

Now that Mourinho will win La Liga, he can join us in the summer...

he'll join city. he joins teams just on the brink that are willing to give him a blank check and them he pushes them the rest of the way. chelsea, AC and real. the next logical step is man city.

109 goals and yet they played extreme defensively against Barcelona in both league games ...

I didn't say they were 'disinterested,' it just seems that perhaps Pep's "La Liga belongs to Real Madrid" talk was actually a realization they weren't going to do it this year.

And why wouldnt they play defensive when the have a blistering counter attack. Mourinho has used those tactics before to beat Barca, why would he change once this team gelled. He knows you cant beat them at their own game but has exposed their weaknesses on more than one occasion. Despite Madrid being defensive against them, Barca have still only scored one more than them in head to heads this season, theres more than one way to play ball mate. If you dont defend first and foremost against Barca you're fucked from the start.

there is no obligation whatsoever to try and match barca (or any other team for that matter) toe to toe. it's about getting the win, when you do that everything else is largly forgotten.
