Liverpool will reportedly complete the signing of Benfica winger Eduardo Salvio within a matter of days.
The need for new recruits at Anfield was made painfully clear by Liverpool’s 6-1 defeat at Stoke on Sunday, and it appears that the Argentine has been earmarked as an early target.
Benfica president Luis Filipe Vieira and super-agent Jorge Mendes are believed to have flown in to England to negotiate the sales of Salvio and his team-mate Nico Gaitan.
And according to Portuguese newspaper O Jogo, Liverpool could complete a deal for the 24-year-old within a matter of days.
Salvio is understood to have a buyout clause in the region of £40million, although Liverpool are likely to reach an agreement for much less.
