So the bitters are trying to boycott the Echo due to a lack of coverage, because apparently we get all the front and back page headlines.

The crux being that their fans want to know whats going on at their club. They've had meetings with Echo execs and got nowhere.

Allegedly Kenwright has had the club on the market for a while and it's been kept out the local press, when I say "on the market", I mean he's been meeting with prospective buyers but shown no willingness to cut the apron strings.

Their anger is a bit ironic really, as the paper has gone from being pro both clubs, to now being hyper-critical of ours, yet they see nothing printed about what is apparently a train wreck behind the scenes at Goodison...

There's a big reason why the Echo would focus on Liverpool rather than Everton and it's all to do with wwb traffic. That's why Metro and even the Crawley Gazette would feature stories and gossip on Liverpool because it gets the traffic which in turn increases revenue from advertisers.

Pretty much. It's hardly on a par with the Scum newspaper though, so it smacks a bit of cutting their nose off..

Indeed.

I feel sorry for the Echo execs in a way. It's not like they can say "Well I'm sorry, but your club just isn't famous enough anymore."

Be funny if they did though.

it's a load of bollocks anyway. The back page the other day had Sterling and the City offer, but the remaining sport pages were full of nothing stories about Everton. They do get coverage, it's just that there's never anything interesting to say, ie Barkley has been watching Ozil and Toure to get tips about composure, the wonders of training under David Unsworth, etc. That's the kind of stuff that's getting covered.

Maybe Everton should try to increase column inches by getting relegated and having a real push for the play-offs the following year.

I boycott the Echo because it is shite. It had a story the other week which was just pictures of dogs watching ships.
