I'd sack him off to any sucker who offered over £3M

His value isn't going to improve. Not here. Probably not anywhere.

Because he's fucking shite.
We'll be offered next to nothing now. You can't give out more of signal to other clubs that "this is a player we are desperate to get rid of and would accept anything at all" than not even giving him a squad number!!

I hold out a bit of faith in getting something from him.

He's still in the Italian squad, I think, so should come of interest to someone.

I'm sure someone will want him, but what I mean is that we have hardly set ourselves up in a very strong negotiating position have we!

Since Dossena no longer has a squad number I thought it was a cert he'd be gone but it appears Juve are saying that they are no longer looking for a new LB as they are happy with what they've got:

Lyon full-back Fabio Grosso has a transfer target for Juventus in the last few weeks, but the Bianconeri have decided they are covered in the left-back position, with Paolo De Ceglie and the recovering Cristian Molinaro.

Grosso's agent Giuseppe Bozzo talked about the Italian international's situation, while also denying interest from Napoli.

"I've been told by Juve that the player is no longer of interest, they are covered at left-back," he said to PianetAzzurro.it.

So who else wants a fatty LB who scores against the Scum?
And against Real Madrid. Any chance Atletico will come for him? We can add him as a make weight in a deal for Aguero 😉

Buchtmann, Agger, Arbeloa, Insua, Mavinga, Aurelio, Gerrard, Riera are all better than fucking Dossena at left back.
You missed out me, Gareth.

Ha!

The Times are reporting interest from Napoli this morning ... with the rider we may not be able to let him go.

e press continue to link Liverpool defender Andrea Dossena with a move back to Serie A and the player's agent, Roberto Laflorio, has confirmed interest from Napoli.

"Napoli like the player, but if they want him they must speak with the British club first," he told Radio Marte.

"I don't know if the English club really want to sell him. I spoke with Andrea and he said if an offer from Naples comes then he will discuss it with his family."

Dossena has struggled since moving to the Reds last summer, only managing 16 appearances in the Premier League in 2008-09. Napoli director Pierpaolo Marino has confirmed that the club will bring in a left-back, but has not named anyone specifically.

The 27-year-old has 10 caps for Italy since making his national team debut in 2007.

Well, there are some on here who idolise their favourites regardless of form, aren't there, neil?

Hmph. Form will always be temporary. Only the most fickle of fans determine their favourites on current form.

Napoli have confirmed they are in talks with Liverpool as they look to secure the services of defender Andrea Dossena.

The Italy international made just 12 Premier League starts for Rafa Benitez's men last term following his £7million arrival from Udinese in the summer.

Juventus were previously linked with a move for the Italy international, but Napoli now appear to have moved to the head of the queue.

Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis had held discussions with Reds boss Benitez and the dialogue between the two clubs would continue.

He told Corriere dello Sport: "I've personally spoken with Rafa Benitez. The negotiation is ongoing."

Reports in Italy suggest that the deal is being delayed as the two clubs haggle over a fee, with the Reds keen to recoup around £6million.

Thank Christ, it had gone a bit quiet on that one

Is right. The sooner the fat cunt leaves the better.

Lets hope we negotiate hard and get more than a Mars bar.

so you guys are confident that insua will be able to do a job on his own, because let's face it aurelio is going to be fit for about 5 games.

And Dossena is a great source of comfort if and when Insua gets injured or has a bad run of form?

Sell him and bring in a cheap versatile experienced defender who can play there.

We were linked again to Distin yesterday...

No "even" about it.  For a long time LB was Carra's best position.  In those days he was a lot better there than he was at RB, and it took Rafa to make a top-class CB out of him.

I take exception to that post.
He is a Liverpool player, he might not be good enough to play for us, but it is not his fault he was brought as our most expensive defender. You shouldn't talk about a Liverpool player that way.

That is just my opinion, of course.

The only problem I see with Insua is that every so often he just seems to lose track of what's going on around him. If he minimizes that he'll be better than fine, if it continues sooner or later it will cost us.

I'm not disagreeing, but it would be a huge sacrifice to play our best defender out of his best position for the club.

Particularly whenever he looks like a right humpy git when asked to play at FB these days.

Understood. I guess I've replied to too many posts in the past from others assuming that Carra couldn't play LB because he's right-footed, while forgetting (if they ever noticed) how well he played there a few years ago.
