How much are we missing Ox?

The only midfield player we had who could carry the ball forward ... we're not stuck with 3 midfielders, none of whom have this quality ... They all are capable of making great runs, but normally without the ball ...

It's reassuring that next year we should have Keita and/or Ox with this ability (and perhaps that Fekir), but I sincerely hope it's not going to cost us dearly this year

We're missing him a lot

We have zero drive from midfield

Put Moreno in midfield with the instructions just to attack, don't even think of defending.

We are missing him but it's bigger than that.

We are missing fresh legs.

It's the fact we sold Coutinho and lost Lallana, Can and Ox at a crucial stage.

Having said that serious questions need to be asked of a management team who rely on such injury prone players.

Lallana has been out pretty much all season and Ox's record was woeful before joining. Even Can nursed an injury a lot last season if reports are to be believed.

Then you have Henderson so many didn't know if could play this many game, an aging Milner and a passenger away from home in Gini.

We'll batter Brighton and Real but we need serious reinforcements in the summer if we want to challenge on both fronts next year.

I honestly don't know why we don't play woodburn there

Attacking, has drive, good technique, and better than fucking Moreno

Hell, play Jones

We need someone to exploit space in the midfield with a bit of pace. He needs to be told not to shoot and to pass it to someone else when he's near the box.
That would imply he’s capable of exploiting space. It also implies that he has enough brain cells to do as he’s told.

Maybe it's our secret plan all along that Moreno has improved tremendously and will only ve unleashed in the CL final so that Real won't know what hit them.

This ties in with jy belief that all our injured players are actually OK and just saved for the final where we have a loophole that will enable us to field Coutinho, giving him the chance for a proper final farewell. Win-win.

Agreed - it is making a huge difference. easy to overlook that in the Roma first leg we were essentially bypassing midfield and just pumping it up to Salah. It needs one of Milner or Gini to be told to adapt their style - or we take a punt on Lallana getting 45 mins or so vs Brighton and start him vs Real.

Yes we are missing him badly - and those that keep arguing we did not replace Coutinho - I actually believe we did replace him with .... yes Ox. How else can any of you explain the sudden signing of him on the last day of the transfer window ? - I think Klopp knew that Coutinho would have to leave in December - so forget all the shit that was played out in the media - it was already pre-planned and probably dare I say it agreed with Barca during the summer. The issue then was the very late transfer request. Also - despite all of Coutinho's abilities - I don't for one minute think he was a Klopp type player - the Ox on the other hand is one that suits his system Coutinho was a liability when you also have to have our regular 3 front men.

I agree that the substitutes available for our front 3 are not good enough at this stage, but at the same time I don't think they have had enough game time to gel well with any of our regular front men. As for the defense - don't think anyone thought that Matip would get an injury ruling him out for the rest of the season, and all the shit that Moreno - is a little too much on this forum - he had bad gams against his old club and that's it really, also Klavan has been good - if anything our defensive issues have come from the likes of Lovren, and Gomez having stupid moments.

I'm not willing to say that our current midfielders are unable to run with the ball but it was a strength of Ox and indeed Lallana. We've lucked out in terms of injuries big time this year and obviously and it will be a real shame if we don't get back into the CL because if we don't then it look as though we have had a disastrous season whereas in fact we are fucking boss and often sensational but we just lacked squad depth.

Fingers crossed and prayers being said.

I don’t think it’s quite fair or accurate to label Coutinho as a ‘liability’, moron
He was becoming too predictable just like Salah is now. Coutinho was not a good fit if you play him alongside our front three against PL opposition. Just not strong enough in 2nd half when we get pressed I was actually partially celebrating when he left. The only thing i miss are his free kicks.

Cost us what exactly? A place in the CL final? A chance for top 4?

We’ve got 2 games left. Let’s not quite right the season off before it finishes, yeah?

We're going into the last game of the season with CL qualification on a knife edge. Our lack of depth has shown over the last several games where we've not been able to rest the front three without it having a negative effect on the scoreline. We could have done this more comfortably had we had an extra option, the option we lost when we sold Coutinho.

When we had Coutinho, we had the luxury of rotating the front three without it hitting us hard, it allowed us to rest whoever was needing it. Now we're relying on Solanke and Ings as back up and praying that no more of the first choice players get injured and that those players who've had a dip in form can come up trumps.
