So, now's the time to act if we are interested in this lad, who's got the potential to become one of the best strikers in the game within a few years.

Acc. to Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf AS Monaco have submitted a £40M bid and now seems odds on to land him.

AC Milan and Real Madrid mentioned as other potential bidders.

Would you like us to be involved?

Edit: Ajax have apparently rejected their offer but surely we most be closing in on their 'no'-limit.. add another £5M and he'd be ours.

No. Seen him against a shit poor Man Utd and a substandard Rosenborg. And I still feel I never saw him.
Fair enough.

He has been below par at the start of this season and was invisible in the EL final, agree.

I think you should at least consider though, that Mourinho spend two entire days prior to the EL final - according to himself - watching and analysing Dolberg only. More or less all of United's defensive setup was about how to close down Dolbergs run, make sure no balls arrived to him etc. (Mourinho explained this on a managerial seminar several Danish coaches attended after the final).

He's 19 and obviously still got a lot to learn, his raw quality and ability in front of goal is rare though and with the right guidance, a bit of luck and hard work £40M could become one of the best investments we've made in recent years. Is my opinion.

Not ready for us - and wouldn't play enough to develop his talents to the next level.
He's making the right more for his career (Monaco) and perhaps, if all goes well, he'll be a great player like Eriksen turned out to be (he made the right move with Spurs too)

We've got money that we haven't been able to spend so yeah, might as well.

I agree with LTW though. I don't think we're right for him right now so I'd maybe agree a 1-2 year loan with another club.

If I was Dolberg, I'd probably just go to Monaco.

Don't need him, we have Solanke who is starting to look a real bargain.

I don't know where we would play him. If Origi and Sturridge were sold then perhaps it would make sense. We'd likely just ruin him.

Monaco would be great for him. Fuck I'd probably choose Monaco over Juve, Barcelona, Real Madrid and any British team as the area is beautiful and the money is reaaal good.

I too really like the look of Solanke so far, but he's also a different type of player why I don't think one would definitely rule out the other. Solanke seems like he could just as well be played on the wing in a 4-3-3 attack or even in the advanced role behind the striker, whereas for me Dolberg is tailor made for the central position. A proper no-nonsense goal-scorer.

Also I have to say my faith in Origi has steadily declined over the past year, as he's not improved at all, almost gone backwards really.

That leaves us with a crooked Sturridge and the very talented yet unproven (at least in terms of a proper goal-tally) Solanke as the only real options to our current preferred forward/non-striker Firmino.

Dolberg as I have said before really do have a lot of the traits of a Lewandowski-player that thrived under Klopp in Dortmund. It's such a no-brainer for me this signing, so we'd obviously stay well clear.. fuckedifuck.

Any young talented player in Europe should either go to Monaco, Spurs (** shudders **) or Dortmund.
They play kids, they make them better, they set them up for massive contracts with the big clubs ...
Dolberg is making the right decision if he goes to Monaco - he'd be an idiot to come here.

I disagree. Klopp is one of the best managers in the world for nurturing young players, especially attackers. He did it at Dortmund and he is/will be doing it here.

He'd be a sub for us at best right now.

And you of all should know what happens with Danish subs....

We haven't earned the reputation as a club yet - I agree with you wrt Klopp, but as a club? We don't have that reputation currently.

Maybe we should play more kids then? I mean after all, Spurs are finishing above us year in year out anyways, and we are also, unwillingly, loosing our best players at some stage too..

Also, look at how TAA and Solanke has already injected some energy and freshness into our team. I wouldn't mind more of that. Dolberg could be our Kane for all we know..

It only works when a) you have kids good enough to play and b) there aren't senior players blocking their path.

Dolberg may be good enough to play but is he good enough to get Firmino benched?

Has there ever been any hint of Liverpool interest in Dolberg (outside of KHL's wet dreams that is)?

Firmino's all round play is better than Dolberg's and it is also the Brazilians best ability imo, that he's so accomplished with so many aspects of the game.

Dolberg however, judging from his first senior year, is a completely different breed of goalscorer, a 1 in 2 goal-per-game player where Roberto is more of a 1 in 3. I do believe we'd be able to fit in both from time to time as I reckon Firmino would also thrive from playing in behind a striker, but even if we couldn't, I still think we'd benefit greatly from having a cold-blooded striker in the ranks.

Solanke, who's been a very nice addition to the squad already, scored 7 goals in Holland last term in the league whilst Dolberg bagged 16 (and a further 6 or 7 goals on top of that in Europe). I don't think Klopp sees Solanke as an out-and-out striker in the current setup, and even Sturridge looks to be more industrious now from further back. Once again that leaves us with Origi who's not shown enough to be called upon week in week out. We could perhaps get £15M - £20M for him in the current market and then Dolberg's price wouldn't look so massive.

Buy him now, bed him in over the course of a season and next Summer he'd be one for the starting XI.

We have scouted him intensely during last season, that much seems certain from various reports, and Klopp himself has commented that he thinks Dolberg is a 'fantastic player' with a 'great future', and those comments probably then ignited a windfall of rumours. Whether we have actually shown genuine interest, who knows.

Spurs are the only team that have been mentioned in 'advanced talks' and now AS Monaco have launched a bid.

Now's the time to act.

I thought I said No?

What else could he be?
Winger/false 9 type-of-player in the Firmino mould?

I just thought from the first few glimpses that he looked to have a lot in his locker, and as he wasn't exactly a goal-machine in Holland, Klopp might have got different plans for him? Really liked his movement, vision and technique but I am just not sure he's seen as an out-and-out striker. I may be wrong.

Who the fuck let Kristian out before the end of August????

Now we'll be getting a new thread every day about the Danish players we need to buy.

I can't be looking after Kristian as well as trying to keep Dreamie locked up so he doesn't start Man Utd related threads everyday!!!

Looks like an out an out #9 based on the little I've seen so far.
