It's a bit clumsily worded, binary and maybe isn't clear about its purpose, but we've had far worse threads.

As for trusting Klopp, well of course, he's made more good decisions than bad ones, and won the European Cup.
It's difficult to fault what he did as manager of Liverpool last season.

But he isn't infallible, and I think we do need to make some signings. So does that make me a "no" or a "yes"?

People blamed him for not signing another CB than VVD as there were many out there better than out lot. His stubborn waiting paid off.

However the faith in keeping those goalies did not (he was definately not waiting for Allison at that point).

Anyway, not trusting Klopp is plain stupid. He knows who and what he needs. He definately want us to win. He is not there to save money. He is there to win. When the right tool is there at what he feel is right price he will move. If he could get Mbappe he would move. If he could get Neymar at 900k a week he would not.

If we get 3 losses between the opening day and Jan transfer window, how many people will be questioning Klopp's judgments? There are certain emotional types who will probably ask for his sacking. Wasn't there a thread that reminisced on a post that asked for Rafa's sacking after winning the CL due to some run of poor form?
(btw I do trust Klopp so will not panic that we don't buy anyone)

Brendan’s thread ‘Thanks for the Champions League Rafa now FUCK OFF’ does not count as reference. And this is a shit thread.

Well if we son't sign anybody

  1. We need to be hugely lucky with injuries
  2. we can write off the domestic cups again
  3. We better hope that Brewster fulfils the hope and hype

With respect:
  1. "Hugely" is going it a bit - we weren't injury-free last season;
  2. Couldn't give a rat's about the domestic cups TBH - icing on the cake at best; so we should play primarily youngsters and squaddies anyway; and
  3. Brewster needs to be given his chance sometime - if Klopp and the coaches think the time is now, that'll do me.
No point making signings just to keep the numbers up, not if they're not the right standard or at the right price. IMO of course.

Klopp has shown that he is capable of getting the best out of players. There's more to come from Fabinho, Keita, Trent, Origi and Gomez. Henderson and Milner are excellent leaders to have around, and are both still capable of having the best season of their career. Brewster may just take to the league as easily as Trent did.

Is this all stemming from the one interview where Klopp said we can't be expected to spend 200-300m and that we may buy one player, but we're not desperate?
I took that to mean that we we're getting Mbappe for 190m.

When you put it like that - difficult to say anything right now, I mean 3 losses seems like too much for us now considering we lost only once last season and that was to the eventual champions. However, sacking ? - no chance, but I do think that FSG are ruthless enough to sack him if we don't make a CL place next season. Ultimately, this question is about trusting him to do the business without signing some world class type right ? - it is very difficult to argue with the reasoning that Klopp has, and also we don't know if the other teams will maximize the ability of their new expensive buys, in which case it won't make much difference. The primary worry is the ability to create goals from midfield and to feel confident when the front three are not at their best. This is what is most worrying for us when if we don't sign. I look at Man City, and I feel the way they play they have the ability to get goals from their strike force and midfield in equal measure, I think for us that is the big difference - we are so reliant on our front three.

This thread is stupid because it poses a question in the title, and then poses a different question in the poll.

Everybody trusts Klopp, but I dont think we can win the league without new signings. Hopefully its irrelevant as we have 3 more weeks to bolster the squad further.

  1. We weren't injury free, but Salah played all 38 league games. Mane played 36. Bobby played 34. Virge and Becker 38. Robertson 36. All of our irreplaceable players played virtually every game. Yes we had injuries, but the players that we have no quality back up for stayed fit. That was uncharacteristically lucky.
  2. I don't care that much either, but these competitions do help breed a winning mentality.
  3. Yes, he does, but my point stands, if he doesn't fulfil the hype, we're looking seriously thin up top.

Comparing TAA to Brewster is hardly fair. Even if you remove any differences in actual talent, it's more likely to see a young fullback flourish than a teenage striker.

TAA had plenty of games and was also rotated when needed, I can't see that kind of opportunity for Brewster at all, and as I said earlier, are we expecting Brewster to have the same impact as TAA?

Because that would put him in the company of Owen, Fowler and Rush, three of our greatest ever strikers.

As for the spending 200m chat, we aren't going to and that's been pretty obvious for ages, so you may as well forget it.

It did it's job then, for all it's vagueness and the stupidity questions it poses.

It's raised debate, job done.

Don't know about that; I think generally attacking players, especially wingers, mature earlier than defenders (esp. CBs) and centre-mids. It's not all that unusual to see teenage or early 20s strikers or wing-forward producing at the highest level; the inverse of that is that many of those who do also burn out sooner.
