From the beeb, highest paid player in their history..

Good luck Djib, you were a bit cack - even for Sunderland - but your hair always entertained me..

Former Liverpool and Sunderland striker Djibril Cisse has signed a four-year deal with Panathinaikos to complete his £7m move from Marseille.

Cisse, 27, scored 11 goals in 38 appearances in a loan spell with the Black Cats last season, but failed to clinch a permanent move.

He was greeted by around 3,000 fans when he flew into Athens on Thursday.

Cisse said: "I am very enthusiastic from the welcome and I have not witnessed anything like it in my life."

He added: "I really didn't expect nor imagine it."
Cisse, who is expected to be the highest-paid player in Panathinaikos history after agreeing a deal reportedly worth more than £2m a year, held talks with club president Nikos Pateras before successfully undergoing a medical and completing the formalities of the deal.

Panathinaikos are also close to sealing the transfers of Greece midfielder Kostas Katsouranis from Benfica, Sebastian Leto from Liverpool and Sweden defender Mattias Bjarsmyr from IFK Gothenburg.

I miss his mad dances around the cups

I just miss the cups to be honest.

Hmmm.. Strange player is Djibs, he's definitely a goalscorer of sorts, he's just got no adequate footballing brain. Nice lad though.

Not sure his missus would agree

i thought he would end up scoring more for them then he did - he started off so well. I think rafa has proved me wrong with getting rid of him

Oh yeah forgot about that.

Well, putting the wife beating aside, he's a nice lad. 😉

Hahaha

I was genuinally excited when we signed him; he looked the right stuff for the Premiership, and thought he could be 'the next Michael Owen'.

He's not a bad striker - I remember that fantastic over-head, volley thing once off Gerrards cross - but is certainly far from a great one. He lacked so much composure it was unreal, and as a result, when faced with a one on one - which are quite piviotal for a pacey striker - he would usually end up missing them, costing us vital points in the process. His inability to accept the offside rule also added to his frustration, as did his horrific injuries.

I did like him, still do, but without his pace I suspect he wouldn't be playing top-flight football.

He's a chavvy, tasteless, wife beating cunt who can run fast, hit the ball hard & blame everyone else on the pitch for him being too thick to interpret the offside rule to any degree whatsoever.

Yeah, but apart from all that, he's a nice lad.

I believe he is a classic case of style over substance.
If it were not for his extravagant hair style and persona his footballing abilities would have confined him to playing mid table football in the Championship.

Beckham obviously had considerable substance but it did pale into insignifence when compared to the hype.

Beckham's media circus may have been the most tedious thing since 'Spice-mania' - surely no coincidence that Victoria's involved in both? - but as a player he wasn't *that* over-rated, maybe marginally, but by a large he's deserved the plaudits given to him.

As an England fan I hold him in the highest of regards.

He's a fantastic player in many ways, but what pisses me off is the complete lack of acknowledgement of his weaknesses.

Agsint Greece, all anyone remembers was him 'winning the game for us', when in actual fact it was him that led to us being faced with the problem. An article was written at the time, cant remember who by, noting the exact point me & all my mates had been all game in the pub, he was constantly out of position. Constantly, the entire shape of the team was trying to make up for this & he almost cost us dearly.

He's much better now regards positional sense, but I suspect it's cos he's not as mobile. He's a very, very good player, but he always believed he had a licence to roam, & when a player as multi-faceted as Stevie has realised he cant do that 2 years earlier than Becks has, you have to put it down to ego.

All I remember is him being put out the wing, and clattering every left back with his brutal crosses!!! Hillarious. He was a classic Houllier signing. Some talent, but ultimately over-hyped.

I agree to an extent but I wouldn't cite the Greece game as an example, especially one to define his whole career

In the first 45 minutes, I recall 10 other players playing like morons who didn't give a damn about what happened, and in the second half Beckham changed completely and was all over the place doing most things positive, and then there was the freekick of course. The manager must have granted this licence in the dressing room, because if he was defying a managers wishes to that extent, it's likely he would have been taken off. In the aftermath the 'Roy of the Rovers' coverage was a bit irritating but we were through, 'cos of him, so I didn't care.

As for United I remember him being stuck religiously out on the right of a 4-4-2 combining well with Neville, and with little licence to roam. I didn't see much of him at Madrid.

His weaknesses for me, were his lack of pace and too many 'hollywood passes', but his devastating set-pieces and delivery is still unparalleled by any English player till this day.

Fuck Cissé.

Cisse = Dwain Chambers with a pair of Predators on. Like I've said, the bloke is amzing at running in a STRAIGHT line and twatting the ball really hard. He's NOT a a footy player.

As a striker he was better than voronin kuyt keane n ngog. Shame about the injuries. He played a massive part in every one of rafa's trophies

What that he's NOT a footballer? Come on any sane person would not come out with that crap. The guy has played for France, played for one of the greatest football teams in the world and too many did not do a bad job. The guy has now got a third multi-million opound transfer under his belt and people still have the gall to say he's not a footballer???? wtf? YOu all know better than Guy roux, houllier, benite, etc.... Of course he's a footballer who has gone on to achieve what most players would only dream of - he may have certain characterisits as a footballer, but nonetheless he is still a footballer. You don't reach his level by only being able to run fast.

Well he obv is a footballer, however he does pretty much have two things in his armoury. Running fast & hitting the ball hard. He's got zero football intelligence (or any other kind of intelligence judging by the car he drove when in Liverpool) & the first touch of a rapist.

Well we agree that what hagman said was bollocks then, he is a footballer? As for zero intelligence, I think you know better than that fox. He may not be at the level of Kaka, however, he still has considerbale footballing intelligence to have got to where he has and achieved what he has. It certainly is not zero and some fans need to buck up and stop coming out with such trite, because its not true.

You've established Cisse plays football. Good work.

Anyway Cisse wasn't as useless as he's being made out, but he clearly wasn't a 'Rafa player' and he didn't perform to the required standard.

I've established that cisse is a good footballer who is clearly not as useless as some make out - from the looks of what others have posted it had to be done, do you have a problem with that? if so, why the sarcy tone?
