Absolutely fucking made up for him

Some people really deserve good things

True. I don't want Holland to win (whoever they play) but I'm pleased for Dirk. Well done and I hope he scores. He'd be the first since Zidane to score in a world cup and european cup final wouldn't he? 🙂

You'd prefer Germany to Dirk's Holland?

Yes. I've never liked Holland. The only team in the tournament I dislike more is France.
Why's that ? I've always been quite fond of the Dutch and their liberal ways.
I dont like them either. Load mouthed boarish fuckers.

I've no idea really. I despise Johan Cryuff and Frank Rijkaard, but on the other hand I loved Marco van Basten.

Basically I have no valid reason. Don't mind the place, people, etc, I just don't want the football team to do well.

For all the stick I have given Kuyt I can hold my hands up and say he has been one Hollands better players and fully deserves all the success that comes his way. He's a top bloke and I'm glad he is at our club. Give him the number 7 for Liverpool, seems to be lucky for him.

Being a dutch fan would be awesome. You get to cover yourself in orange and dance around with hot blondes.

I love the Dutch, anywhere women feel free to come up to you & chat you up as openly as they do is alright with me. Although the first time it happened my girlfriend of the time was with me & she got a tad upset, esp when the girl in question blatantly refused to apologise when she realised we were together.

I don't want Germany to win, yet I get £50 if they do.

Don't want Holland to either, but I prefer them to Germany. Although my boss gets £50 if they win, and I definitely want that much less than me getting £50.
Bit scary when they get you . Look out for 2 cats when you get in there ......

Excellent thread. Well done Dirk, every team needs a Dirk and nobody does it better than Dirk. Dirk Dirk Dirk Dirk.

I am cheering for Spain though, it is worth about £100 to me in the sweepstake in work. Although Holland winning would be worth a few quid in the pub sweep.

*scratches head*

So glas that he made it. Do we have more representives in the final than other english clubs?

Some of the scums fans wanted spain to lose after they dumped portugal, I hope Fernando can disappoint them yet.

I have Holland in work sweepstake but get something for second anyway.

Holland players always seem to hate each other.
They also DETEST Germany. therefore i am hoping for a Holland-Germany final because it could be entertaining and there could be a fight

babel is 90 minutes away from a world cup medal. ha ha
Elia killed Babel's WC dream. If he hadn't looked so bright in that first sub appearence, Babel would have probably got a little late run out, but Elia is clearly ahead of him in the pecking order now. Poor the Babel.

Oh, and people saying how great total football was. Well they got to two finals and lost them both. The end.
Well they did play great football. Losing to a Gerd Muller goal and in the lion's den in BA was no disgrace either. I wanted them to win both and would be happy for them to win this one.

BTW folks it's Netherlands NOT Holland (which is but a small part of the Netherlands). It amazes me that national broadsheets can't even get that right, never mind Sky et al.

Technically that's right of course, but I'm sure I've heard the Dutch fans chanting "Holland, Holland".

Dirk's cross from the left for the Robben headed goal was aces, he's solved the problem of a new left winger ;D

Seriously though I wish him well for the final and hope he scores a goal.

He's played on the left for his national team before, and done as well he does on the right IMO. At times I wondered if Rafa might have been well advised to get him and Yossi to swap wings.

Cruyff singles out Holland attacker for praise

Johan Cryuff has talked up Liverpool forward Dirk Kuyt ahead of Holland’s World Cup semi-final with Uruguay.

Dirk Kuyt has received a boost ahead of the World Cup semi-final after being praised by Holland’s greatest ever player. Kuyt and his team-mates face Uruguay in the last four of the competition in a match you can see on STV and online in HD from 7pm.

Johan Cruyff, who has been in South Africa watching his country on their run to the semi-finals, singled out Liverpool star Kuyt for praise after his performance against Brazil in the previous round. The iconic Dutchman praised his energy and movement as well as his combination of defensive and attacking awareness throughout the tournament.

"Without belittling anyone, it is still nice to see how Kuyt developed into one of the most valuable players,†said Cruyff. “There were doubts, but he was ready as of the opening game,"

"Look at what he did. He started on the right, then at forward and against Brazil on the left. Not only did he keep Maicon out of the game, he also set up the winner.

"Someone like that is worth his weight in gold."

Kuyt has already scored in the tournament, finishing a move against Denmark in the group stages after Eljero Elia had hit the post. The forward also set up Wesley Sneijder’s winner against Brazil.

In addition to praise from one of the greatest players of all time, Kuyt was also backed by his manager, Bert van Marwijk.
"He always gives everyone a signal how it should be done and his impact and enthusiasm is very infectious," the national team coach said. "He is incredibly important."

Van Marwijk’s side now stand on the verge of equalling Holland’s best ever performance at the World Cup. The nation reached the final of both the 1974 and 1978 competitions with Cruyff playing a central role in the former.
