In the press over the last few days we are looking at him as a potential replacement for BR.

He is mad as a hatter at times, but I'd be well up for having him at the helm

Thoughts ?

Fickle fucks - spot on. Show a little class. He is defo getting everything wrong right now. He can't cope with Gerrard. He cant handle the legend and it has cost him dearly. If he doesn't get it right he will pay the ultimate price. Until then - we wait. Sit down and clam it. No need to go there.

That's my take on it.

I wouldn't say I'm happy with Rodgers, I'm just 100% against chopping the manager at the first chance, sacking him any time before the end of the season is pointless and follows the depressingly fickle and self defeating nature of modern day football.

*not going to take bite*

*restrains himself*

*breathes out*

Why would Simeone come here?
Many reaons: the language, the weather, the food.

Seriously though, I don't know. Maybe for the money (can we pay more than Atletico?) oe for the challenge (though I'm not sure if he feels he's done it all at Atletico)

You almost make it sound like Gerrard is the root cause of all our troubles.

Despite how far off the pace we've fallen in the last couple of decades, we're still one of the top three or four most successful clubs in European football. The manager who gets us back up there will get a page all to himself in the history of the game. Not every big name would be attracted by the challenge, but I'd be surprised if none were.

I think a manager like Simeone, or Klopp for that matter, is going to be unlikely to want to face the same constant uphill battles at their next club the way they have done in the last couple of seasons. It kind of defeats the purpose of a career progression if you keep having to go back and start all over again at a midtable club. You would think they would want to move to clubs that will have a chance of retaining a team that they build rather than selling off the family silverwear every 12 months

I wouldnt disagree but then Id say breaking the Classico duopoly in Spain was the equivalent of winning the league with us, how many times is he going to accept the same challenge. Its more likely we would get a guy like Pep who wants a fresh challenge building his own side from scratch which he has never done before, or back in the real world a top class manager who gets fired from another club and has a point to prove.

If Wenger was sacked by Arsenal this summer would people be interested?

My main issue is that when you continue to play the legend you fail to build for the future. Last season would have been perfect to do exactly that. Had we played a decent HM/DM instead and subbed Gerrard on at 60 mins we would have won that title imo.

He was moved to DM last season to accommodate him and the team. He was "in the way" further up field. That much I think we all agreed on, right? That meant that we played the entire last season with an unprotected back 4. . We were wide open last season - just as we are now. Gerrard is the worst DM's I have ever seen for LFC. Like a headless chicken off the ball. Zero positional awareness. Lucas would cover the back 4 better with a blindfold - not that he's that great at all.

I see nothing at all that would warrant his position in the XI and I haven't seen it for years. I always said that Rodgers era would be defined in his ability to handle the Gerrard issue and sadly, he has failed miserably.

The man is the LFC legend of the last two decades. That legend could easily stand in the way of BR and his legacy - in fact, it already does.

I wouldn't personally. I reckon he's too wedded to Arsenal to be a success elsewhere in the Prem, and IMO he's past his best years anyway.

OK. I agree that sacking him now would be a mistake. Despite the awful run we're on. I guess the owners will be seriously considering what finishing 9th or similar might do to us if they wait till the summer to see where we're at. Can they see him turning this around? There are serious question marks about his defensive coaching, his player recruitment and his inability to have a coherent strategy on the pitch. He appears to have no idea what his best team is and he's been found wanting on numerous occasions tactically. He's also struggling to motivate the team and their mistrust of his approach to each individual game is apparent every time they take the field. He has also spent a fortune on underwhelming players. Having said that, if he comes through this and we rediscover some of the fluidity and will to win from last season he'll come out of it a better manager and more able to keep the job. I persoanlly doubt he can rescue it from here. I hope I'm wrong.

Someone asking if we should be looking at Wenger if he's sacked by Arsenal. I feel physically sick.

I dont think Simeone or Klopp are realistic targets for the reasons I outlined, Wenger was a hypothetical suggestion. I dont think it will happen but if it were an option then its one we really would have to consider.

I think De Boer is more likely

Certainly a possibility but didnt he turn us down before? He would be another coach of the Rodgers 'up and coming' type, which would be odd given that in this scenario we are sacking one young unproven manager to appoint another one. I think if DeBoer was the alternative we would be better off sticking with Rodgers
