Didn't we almost have it all

Read the interview again. One of the main reason he thinks he struggled at Chelsea was because "one day I played, the next not." You can't possibly have a 3rd striker whose confidence is so fragile that it gets destroyed every time he's benched.

He's just full of excuses. In the sequence of games below (all competitions) in his first 1.5 Chelsea seasons:
S = started (some finished, some subbed off)
s/S = subbed on / started, and scored
s = on bench, subbed on
u = on bench, unused

2010/2011: SSSSSsSsSsSsssSsSS
2011/2012: SSSsSSSSSuSSssusSssuuSsSSSSSSSSSussSusSSsSSSsSsuSsSSuSss

He had more than his fair share of sequences of starts. First it was his team mates being too slow and ponderous, then it was Liverpool playing him through injuries, now it's the manager not giving him enough minutes.

You could imagine him sitting at home, gazing at old DVDs of his LFC days whilst he glances every now and again at an unopened packet of L'Oreal Nice 'n' Easy blonde highlights, thinking to himself, 'Should I...?' He's living in his own version of Sunset Boulevard, the big tart.
