Di Matteo On "Gardening Leave"

Probably West Brom deciding they want to sack him, him refusing to agree settlement terms. So West Brom continue to pay him as per the contract, and Di Matteo has to remain available to work for West Brom for the remainder of the contract.

I've just seen him in the 'do it all' garden centre

I saw him next door in the 'Do fuck all' gardening center too

Real shame. What exactly did the West Brom board expect?
Promoted and playing good football with a young team. And still fighting.
Terrible decision.
They will now hire some fucking dinosaur and play shit football to grind out another season in the top flight without any expenditure then fall away again.

Exactly

Can't wait to hear what the LMA says - or does it just protest when English bulbous-headed fuckwit managers get the boot?

Yes, and that's provided they haven't got across Ginsoak.

Idiotic decision by the Baggies. They've increased their chances of going down IMO.

Seriously - i reckon Wroy will be in with a shout of this one. Which would be fucking hilarious!

The absolutely mental part of this is that their next 3 games are absolutely crucial; West Ham, Wolves and Stoke. They really shouldn't be fucking around now.

Even worse - what point in waiting until a week after the window closes?

So, sacked, then ?

What the fuck is this "gardening leave" ?
Basically don't wanna part with a huge sum of money at one go.
Mirrorsport has learned canny Peace has also put Di Matteo on gardening leave on full pay to avoid a bumper pay-off now.

"Canny" my @rse. It was the wrong decision, and they're still having to pay two managers in order to implement it. Lesser of two evils at best.
Shit isnt it.
I fucking hate how these fucking chairmen operate. Fair play to Dave Whelan for at least chancing it with an up and coming manager. Look at Bolton under Coyle or Everton under moyes. It works but you have to trust it. Most chairmen will give a young manager a go to try and get promoted but rarely in the top flight. These young managers have no chance, you take over a club doing fuck all, if you go backwards you are sacked, if you over acheive you are sacked at the first sign of finding your level.
They spent next to fuck all and werent even in the bottom three.
So Roy keeps them up. So? DiMatteo might have done too. Roy takes them down (which i really fucking hope now) then struggles for the start of the season and then gets sacked, they appoint.....lets say Gus Poyet. The BEST thing he can do for his career is hit 3rd every year but lose in the playoffs.
If i was a manager at a little club id show no fucking loyalty man, youre about 10 games from the bullet regardless of the job you are doing.
Fuck West Brom.
