If you'd watched the two of them play football over the last 10 years you'd have your answer.

Indeed, I would have thought it's fairly obvious one is a great leader and the other leads by example but is a moany git

Maybe, but they might actually work as a good management partnership - Stevie as the charismatic number one, with Carra as his hyperactive, tactically astute number two, like Klinsmann/Low or Clough/Taylor.

After playing I reckon Stevie should either be involved as a coach in the England set-up like Stuart Pearce or open 'soccer schools' ala Beckham where he could cash in on his fame and make even more money. I don't see him as either Football Manager or Football pundit.

if being a good manager is mainly about reading the game then sami and alonso would make excellent managers.

I bet both of them can make good managers. But it is to put your own idea into play. You need ideas on how your team is to play, not just be able to read the game.

You can tell which players aren't suited for management, but I think it's next to impossible to guess how well a former player will get on.

Stevie isn't exactly mister charisma though, is he?

I think most footballers would be pretty much in awe of him. He doesn't have to say much, just stand there and glare at them, then yell 'I'm the man I'm the man I'm the fucking man!' every time we win.

That's what I said ;D

But zlatan doesnt really like Carragher, so it's not a surprising comment from him.

I didnt say Carragher wouldnt make a great manager i just think its stupid to say that he would be better than gerrard based on nothing.

But it's not based on nothing, their playing style and demeanour would suggest that Carra would be a better manager.

There's no guarantees, of course..but you asked about their attributes and some posters have mentioned them.

Hard to say if either would be good though.
