He wasn't bought as back up for Lucarse, but it's a measure of how fucking shit Crapsen is, that that is exactly what he has become. Because Lucarse is still rubbish.
True, i suppose he was more to compete with lucas rather than backup

i just dont' get where this magical money for a better defensive mid in the summer is coming from. Raul can play there and should when gerrard returns

Lucas had a damn good game today ... again.

However what I came into this thread to say was ..... why ? Stupid thread.

We played well, we went for it and absolutely tried to win it (and in the end that is what caught us out for their 2nd goal). If you want to blame someone for today it shouldn't be Budgie but Torres & Maxi.

Wow, I love the interesting, fresh and thought provoking threads SCM is throwing up lately.

poulson didn't play. Everything didn't go through torres.

The point is the lack of options on the bench is killing us.. and we rely heavily too much on Torres to bring something out of the game. Our game is predictable, and teams have us sussed.
We had another 2 strikers on the bench in babel and jovanovic........ We could...you know....try them.
Are you blaming roy for a poor summer when we had no money when we needed to replace masch and get a left back?
Why did he buy two Central Midfielders and Attacking Midfielder and let one who is playing a blinder in Italy go... ?

He wastes 6mill on an ageing Poulson.. surely a young Spearing would of been a better option if he is not going to play him.... Blood the youngsters and all that

The 6 mill could of gone elsewhere for at least a winger.. on someone with at least some creativity..

As for Jovanavic.. he should be given a chance, play him behind Torres... He has pace...
4.5 million.

The 6.6 million midfielder was Lucas.

still 4.5 mill would probably get you nzogbia...

miles better than poulsen.. and understands the premiership as good as anyone...

£4.5M would get you N'zogbia? And how is even comparable to a DM?

You're spouting so much shit recently it's hard to find the words...

Point is I am trying to make we didn't need to buy poulson, we needed to buy players with some creative sparkle.. As that was the crux of our problem last season and still is...

Aqualani should of stayed...
Spearing has done a much better job than Poulsen when being called upon this season, Poulson has been utter shite...

The Manager lacks drive and ambition, he is boring everyone to sleep with his constant bollox interviews.. That seriously must transfer to the dressing room..

I absoloutely despise the cnut as being our manager...

Granted he was not majorly at fault for the game today.. However he takes some blame as his methods are predictable, his away record says it all..

I love the way thick, clueless cunts keep blaming Roy for today. Today was one of the most open contests we've seen in recent years against a big team away from home, we could and probably should have won, but didn't have enough in the tank (or the squad) in the end. Shit happens, get over it and read between the lines you sad fucks.

The fact the game was that open concerns me too.. Tottenham were not a full strength for the majority of the game. We should of lost by more than just 2-1 to be fair, Missed Penalty and goal disallowed, not forgetting the numerous goal line clearances.

The fact remains 19pts from 15 games is simply not good enough..

Jono it wasn't aimed at you, just the general 'boot in' comments that have been on here since the game, I agree re the openness, it was the same against City, what angers me in that respect is the usual suspects labelling him defensive. We went there with intent. Posters have banged on for years about rather seeing us lose trying to win. Well there you go.

shitty post that...

I don't think anybody on this thread Roy should be sacked because of this match.

I also don't think people are saying Roy is the only reason we lost this game. I think everyone can see Maxi and Torres missed sitters, and as did some Spurs players. Nobody is that fucking blind. It's just that some don't think that Roy got it spot on when it came to tactics. When you put that in perspective, you can see why people are dissatisfied with him after every passing game.....he has done nothing to change that opinion.

Lets be fair, he's basically done the opposite of what Ged and Rafa would have done going there. If he'd have gone there defensive minded and lost he'd be getting slaughtered even worse than he already is, so the conclusion is that we're just not good enough full stop, regardless of tactics, we're just not good enough and there's loads of work to do and today exemplified that.

I agree with kingjulian. Some of the criticism aimed at those of us who don't feel inclined to give Roy a free pass for today's result has been nearly as extreme as some of the more exaggerated abuse he himself has been shipping.

Interestingly enough the commentators on Five Live were in no doubt that our second-half tactics contributed to the result - and they were actually there to witness it. Of course it's true that we're not good enough at the moment, but Roy's made things worse than they need have been.

In fairness, Rafa went there 2 seasons ago and we battered them. They got two shitty late goals and we lost.
