David Silva and Yaya Toure moving to Citeh

Fucking hell. Two excellent players who'll improve them again.

City will definitely be top 4 this season.

So they have De Jong, Barry, Yaya, Ireland, Vieira, Johnson and Kompany who all play central midfield. And Silva can play several positions.

Something's got to give.

I think Ireland, Vieira and Johnson would have their noses pushed out. Ireland can be a decent player but he's a bit of a headcase. Been a while since I saw Johnson play but he looked promising when I did

Would Viera be worth a look?

I haven't seen Citeh really this season, so I dunno if he's even half the player he was, but presumably he'd be on the cheap?

Now the homegrown player law has been scrapped, City will not give a damn about Ireland and SWP.

Given

Richards K.Toure Boateng Lescott

A. Johnson Kompany Toure Silva

Tevez Adebayor

Subs: Weiss, Bellamy, Bridge, Viera, Ireland, Santa Cruz, De Jong, Wright-Phillips, Barry

They're beginning to look like possible champions this season. If they can find someone more motivated than Adebayor up front then I think they'll make a sustained challenge.

Ive never been convinced by Silva and I don't think he'll be a big hit over here, I suspect he'll be back in Spain or Italy by 18 months time.

Toure is a decent player but I thought De jong did a decent job for them last season again so yeah. . I'm not overly fussed by these signings, nor do I think they'll instantly gain rights to fourth place with them, far from it.

Please dont let us try to sign Barry again
[/quote]

Er, I hope we do.

But we couldn't afford him anyway.

He's better than Lucas, Sunny.

We were poor at keeping the ball last season, we need a steady eddy CM who can keep us ticking along nicely.

I think Barry would help us to do that. Like I said though, we won't be able to afford him anyway.

Better than Lucas doesn't mean there's not better than Barry. If Inter want Masher we should ask for Cambiasso.

Hmm Rafa doesn't seem to like having many good strikers at once. We should ask for Eto or Balotelli

Silva? Arsed. He'll do fuck all.

I don't think Silva will provide the 'wow' factor people are expecting. I think he's overrated.

He'll do well to match Bellamys early season form from last season!

Indeed. They seem to be buying for buyings sake. Same plan as Chelsea had to increase the global name of Manchester City and thus ending up with millions of fans. Just as Chelsea have.

You need to buy titles before you win fans. And Chelsea did that pretty well. Doubt their fans care that much how many millions of fans we have compared to them.

This.

I would prefer that we do not buy anyone from Italy....even if it is Cambiasso.

The recent experiences have been far too painful.

Guess Ireland's probably leaving then? Was Toure really necessary when they had the likes of Barry and De Jong? Like Brendan mentioned, something's gotta give.

Barry didn't really impress last season and De Jong is quite a limited footballer (moreso than Masher). Toure will give them a fantastic physical presence in the middle of the park and is also quite good on the ball. It'll be interesting to see how / whether he fits in.

More interesting however, will be how successful Silva is in this league. He's a classy player but they'll need to get the balance of the team right to get the most out of him.
