So he won the MLS trophy with basically his last game in America. He has played 27 times this season and scored twice and got 14 assists.
He's won trophies eventually wherever he has been:

Manchester United
Premier League (6): 1995–96, 1996–97, 1998–99, 1999–2000, 2000–01, 2002–03
FA Cup (2): 1995–96, 1998–99
UEFA Champions League (1): 1998–99
Intercontinental Cup (1): 1999

Real Madrid
La Liga (1): 2006–07
Supercopa de España (1): 2003

Los Angeles Galaxy
MLS Western Conference (3): 2009, 2010^, 2011
MLS Cup (1): 2011

So where does he go now? He's 36 and wants to play for England next year. What would he need to do between now and May to get into Fabio's plans?
I think the only way he could make it is to play in the premiership. But then Im not sure he is good enough to play in the premiership?

So if he is not good enough for premiership, how can he be good enough for England?

Go to Qatar or something and earn your beloved money David. That is what drives you anyway!

[/quote]He's a galvanising character, but if thats what we need as England we are in trouble.
I think in Walcott, Young, Downing, Johnson, Milner Lennon etc his time has passed. We cant go back really it would be a mistake and I just dont see how he would fit into the way we are trying to progress.

He should just stay in LA or retire . He didn't play in Europe for AC last season did he ? So it's been a while since he's played anything above what , lower championship level ? (Please feel free to inform me Major League Soccer is of a higher standard) . I doubt he has it in him now.

Anyway , So now he's in the final stages of his career , where do people rank him as a footballer? . To me he was always overrated , his fame was bigger than his footballing ability . Don't get me wrong he's a very good footballer but i don't think he was ever in the world class category .

I think Beckham was World Class but I don't expect many people on a Liverpool forum to agree. His fame did outgrow his prowess but his fame was so massive and global it'd be difficult for it not to.
Him and Van Horseface were fucking lethal. Also, that game they beat Arsenal 6-2 or whatever, I recall seeing him deliver one of the best passes I've ever seen in a game of football.
Passing game, delivery and dead-ball play was up there with the best.
He'd probably still be ok at Prem level. It's not like there aren't plenty of mediocre players about and he'd probably still pull something out.

I think pretty much the same.

He has said today he'd like to go back to ManU.

He's probably got a chance because Owens there and does little too......

You can't dispute that record, he was a top, top player.

Great passing ability, a fantastic cross and the ability to lift a side. I do think his personal life overshadowed and probably overhyped him but he was still a magnificent player.

I've got no time for his Mrs, she's a talentless bint but I've never really had much against Beckham other than that he played for United. He's a always come across as a good guy.

He didn't quite say that he'd like to go back to ManUre. It was more along the lines of "You never know", and he'd just been saying the same about the possibility of playing for another Prem side too. I doubt he thinks he has a snowflake in Hell's chance of returning to Old Toilet. The guys in the studio were talking the possibility up more than he did.

You have to admire the way he came back from having been sent off in the WC by that Danish tw@t Milton Nielsen. [Waits for KHL to take the bait. 😉]

Agree with all that. Always thought he was a quality player myself and although a Manc, his passing and more so crossing ability was a joy to watch.
Very unique player in his pomp.

I thought the plan was for him to lead the Olympic team?

by world class , for his generation , i mean the likes of Zidane , the Real Ronaldo , Ronaldinho (for a few seasons at least ) , Raul , Luis Figo , Rivaldo etc etc ..........he wasn't a patch on any of them .

He did play with or against most of them and never looked out of place. He was a brilliant player in his day. I know that his personal fame is an issue for some but that's never affected his football really has it? He could easily have quit years ago but he's still going.
I'm not sure what his next move would be but surely the fact that he's still even being mentioned as an England player at his age suggests that he's far from overrated.

Yep, to Ashley Cole for their 4th?? At the time I thought that was absolutely mind blowingly good. The commenators went nuts over it so I immediately thought it was perhaps not quite as good as their creaming would suggest. I actually thought the pass from Beardo in the FA cup final against us was of similar level. I looked at them on you tube recently..... had to admit that Beckham's pass was worlds ahead.

I've always wondered how good he was. You had the dickheads who claimed he wasn't much good and was just media hype. Apparently the fact he kept pinging in superb crosses, scoring goals and winning titles in one of the worlds toughest leagues was all part of the hype. As, of course, were his international awards. That said, as you say, his fame did outgrow his ability. To be honest it is more than what a Best, Pele or Maradona would justify.

He's not in Ronaldo, Messi or probably in Zidane level but he's in that next tier in my opinion.

As you say, not popular on a Liverpool forum which kind of strengthens the argument of how good he really was.

I suggested that he's not at Zidane's level but he's on the next tier IMO.

There's no way that Raul, Figo etc or on the same level as Zidane in his pomp. As has already been said, Beckham played with/against all those guys and never looked outclassed. He was an outstanding player at his best and clearly respected by some of the greatest players in modern history if not by the average joe in the street.

Yep. Also he was/is polite. A rarity it seems.

This was something I found surprising too. I remember when he was first coming to attention I thought he was a tool. I really had the impression he was pompous, clueless twat so it really came as a surprise to find how well spoken he was and how polite he is. Unfortunately he was a credit to the mancs - no wonder they had to part ways.
