Danny Ward

Leicester have agreed a £10m fee with Liverpool for goalkeeper Danny Ward.
We understand Ward is being brought in to provide competition for Kasper Schmeichel, not to replace him.
Ward is expected to take a medical and discuss personal terms in the coming days.

Bulltshit its for competition. Why would he leave one bench for another? Schmeichel is off to Chelsea if you believe th latest rumours.

Cos he cant even make the bench at Anfield, and that was before we bought Allison.

I read somewhere that Ward turned up to pre-season last year completely out of condition and with a fairly shitty attitude towards trying to cement his place. Especially given his fairly successful spell at Hull - Klopp was very unimpressed. Anyway 12 mill seems decent enough.

I think this is a poor decision by the club, he's by far our current least shit keeper. He's looked pretty good every time I've seen him play. Means are defo stuck with at least one of those other pair of whoppers.

His attitude wasn't exactly shitty. He was a very cocky character in his younger years, but he's gradually become a fairly popular player at the club. He just came back from Huddersfield looking like he'd 'over-indulged' during the summer and that obviously went down badly. But generally I don't think anyone felt there was a big attitude problem.

£10 million for reserve keeper who has never really done anything in the top flight. Incredible times.
£10 million is the new £100,000!

Ward was on loan at Huddersfield the season they won promotion to the Premier League. During the regular season the Huddersfield fans (on their forum) were ambivalent about his spell there; some fans thought he was decent and worth signing permanently (if we sold him cheap) others thought they could find better if/when they got promoted. He became a hero during the playoffs as he saved 2 penalties in penalty shoot-out that got them to the final playoff game and then saved 2 more in the final which also went to penalties.

I like him and thought he should have been given a chance ahead of Ming and Karius at some point last season. That said, £10m is decent for an untried keeper but hopefully we will include a sell-on clause.

#LFC close to selling Danny Ward for £12.5m to Leicester. They'll also receive 20% of any future sale. [Bascombe]

Mental.

Ibe, Smith, Stewart now Ward and probably others I'm forgetting but that's what £30m+ for those four ?

We got shaquiri for that. Not bad at all. I remember a time when shaquiri would have been a very exciting signing.

I find this very weird. How did a keeper worth that much not even get a chance for us?

I think it says more about the market than the player. I don't really follow football elsewhere all that closely but there are players going for £30m+ that I've never even heard of.

Yeah that started last year when Everton signed that Turkish guy - 14 games - 5 league goals. Strange times indeed.
