Just been killed in indycar accident. Won indy 500 this year and has previously won the indycar series. Fucking sad 2 hours ago he was tweeting now he's dead.

Insane Indy Car crash - English driver Dan Wheldon killed

I'm really not a fan of this at all and know nothing about it , i was just flicking around and it was one of those weird moments when i turned on just as this happened .
Seems they have lots of extra drivers in this race and it was getting crazy out there, racing 3 side by side and wheel to wheel . It's a crazy crash and this English driver Dan Wheldon had just died from his injuries , poor fucker .

Sorry chap , didn't see you post this just before me ....they're doing a 5 lap salute right now ...pretty somber .

It just looked like crazy racing condition , a big crash always looked so likely to happen .

Its pretty sad.... They where hitting speeds of 230 mph during practice looks like indycar may have to look at safety. A number of those cars just exploded in to fireballs.

Like i mentioned , i don't follow this at all but saw some of the drivers talking about the crash before they know of the death . They all said it was getting crazy out there especially for being so early in the race .

They also mentioned that this field of 34 was much larger than normal with some driver who don't always race .Is that correct ? what's the reason behind this ?

Racing in Ovals should be banned....it's as simple as that.

A open wheel car is designed to survive one impact, not multiple impacts...which is what you get in pack racing in ovals.

It is worse than some of the blood-sport out there.
