Dundee United today announced the loan signing of Finnish U21 striker Lauri Dalla Valle from Fulham FC. The deal will see Lauri wear the tangerine jersey until mid January 2012 - with an option to extend the loan period until the end of the season.
19 year old Dalla Valle joined Fulham from Liverpool, where he was a prolific scorer at youth level. He made his first team debut at Liverpool as an 18 year old and was transferred to Fulham in August 2010 as part of the deal which took Paul Konchesky to Merseyside. The highly rated youngster was included in Fulham's Europa League squad this season and made his first team debut against NSI Runavik. A natural striker with good positional sense and pace, he has been capped by Finland at every level up to U21.
Manager Peter Houston said "Lauri is a player I have been aware of for some time, having seen him play at Liverpool. Once I knew he was available and knowing how highly he is rated by Fulham's reserve coach Billy McKinlay, I wanted him signed up quickly. This loan arrangement will provide the opportunity for him to further develop his potential at first team level whilst adding a much needed striking option to our first team squad. He clearly has a big future ahead of him and it's great that he knows he can enhance his development here at Tannadice.
"The fact that such a well-established Premiership club is keen to entrust the development of some of their most promising players with Dundee United is testament to our reputation and our coaching staff and a real achievement for the Football Club," he added.
