Delighted for Crouch.

Always liked him and thought he added another demension to our squad.

His finishing at times is brilliant.

I wonder will he make the WC squad.

Yeah I always liked him too - unfortunately he wasn't good enough to be our front-line striker and wasn't content to sit on the bench. Good to see him doing well.

I couldn't give a fuck what he does for Spurs in some tinpot Cup, or if he makes the England squad.

What the fuck does that even mean? Crouch is not, and never will be a brilliant finisher. His hot streaks aren't brilliant in context with any top level striker.

When he scores, his finishing is brilliant? Yea, that's true of Benayoun and your nan if she ever buried one from distance. It's a retarded tautology.

And he is lanky. I always thought peters ability was clouded or inflated by his appearence. Stupid as it sounds, he will be whatever the media clowns call him, due to the unbelievable amount of thundercunts who treat headlines like gospel. I for one feel he is, and always has been a tall, average frontman who in reality shouldnt ever start for a top 4 side.

You're wasting your breath Farky.

One couldn't even begin to count the fucking gatrabillion contradictions, errors, and bloopers he's made on here. Reasoning with him is like asking a dog to breakdance.

There are many players that I think just hit the ball at the target and sometimes they score and sometimes they don't.

Crouch when he's on form always seems to score with efforts that are pretty much unstoppable, or that other players couldn't manage.

Like his bask heel or his over head kick.

I also remember scoring some rippers for England. Notably the turn and finish at OT.

crouch was ace at holding up the ball*

*which involved him returning the ball to whoever gave it to him even if that person was in our own half.

As opposed to Babel who gets it and let's it bounce off his shin to the person stood 20 feet away from him?

Crouch held up the ball plenty of times for the likes of Gerrard and Garcia to then smash it into the net. He might have been chronically slow but he wasn't as negative as you make out when in possession and his goals to games ratio for us will always be good, 135/42 which is pretty good when you consider that Kuyt, who has been in excellent goalscoring form, has a record of 154/44.

babel is totally irrelavent to crouch.
simply, we play with one up front and that was always going to be torres, you then have the people who support and supply him. could one of those players ever be crouch. nope. would crouch be prepared wait on the bench for the first choice to get inuried or suspended? he didn't fit except as an impact sub when things have gone tits up. he did an okay job for us then we bought kuyt an torres and moved on.

the striker I WISH we'd kept was bellemy.

Get the fuck off it Fark. If anyone else had posted that you'd have said nothing. Crouch's finishing is fantastic at times. Think of his two bicycles kicks, his goals home and away to West Ham in 2006-2007 and his strike away to Arsenal in 2008...all really well taken.

Defending a player by taking a shot at Babel? Is it really necessary?

Anelka did fuck all wrong for me.

Crouchy is a better finisher than some will give credit for, or ever will. His detractors try and stick their heads in the sand and have clever retorts.

If Babel had scored a hatrick in similar circumstances on Tuesday, or N'gog the orgasmic splutterings on here would have been deafening.

Crouchy is being dealt with almost as badly as he was here.

I bet over the last few years he has a good a goals per time on the field as anyone.

I also think it is fair to debate players that have left us , particularly when they are better than most of the dross that was left behind.

Hey-ho , there are none as blind as those that will not see.

Sorry Vlad, that's not right. No matter what Babel seems to do (be it game winning goals or assists), people always complain about him ... His shortcomings are obvious but he could score a hat trick to beat the Mancs in the Champions League final and people would complain, "He didn't look interested" and "Where's his left peg?"

It wasn't about that, it was the fact they're polar opposites. One arrived with low expectation, exceeded them and more than justified his price tag, the other arrived with a big fee and has flattered to deceive, yet Neil continues to back the latter while making comments like the above about a player who was a relative success and generally gave his all for the club.

It's just his logic that's all, Babel was the perfect comparison.

Oh come on, if he'd have scored a hattrick his usual defendants would have marked it as a akin to the second coming, let's face it.

People complain about him with good reason, and for the record, I backed him to the hilt after his two sub appearances of late. I wasn't trying to be overly critical after the game the other day, I just thought people were going over the top in their appraisals of his performance.

I have amended that for you Ken.

I remember Crouch's perfect hattrick against Arsenal with fondness. Simply sublime that day! His slowness was obviously his achilles heel, hes no white Usane Bolt.

Babel actually reminds me more of Cisse.

I saw Alonso in an interview on the television and he was asked 'who is the most skillful player in the squad?', and he declaired 'Babel' which surpised me no ends!

In retrospect maybe it was said in merth, although i didnt recall Alonso as a big joker.
