For the rest of the season clubs can name 9 subs on the bench and use 5 of them during the game.

I think what Nomad's saying is that it'll add fuel to the fire of anyone trying to cast doubt on the validity of what we hope will be our title win this season, and in fairness I can see how that might happen when those concerned will be desperate to find any pretext to snipe at us and what we've achieved.

What I can't see is why any Liverpool fan would give a tuppenny feck. On the contrary, I'd turn defence into attack over it and make a big thing of the whole asterisk business - I'd have our fans all waving socking great big blow-up placky asterisks in the stands, red ones obv.

It's already started

We could not play a single fucking game this season and still win the league. Changing the subs rule won’t make any difference at all.

So they've borrowed another 175 ontop of the billion they owe for the new ground? They are going to have to make monumental profits moving forwards to pay that off. Or hope someone buys them sharpish.

Pity a few more matches aren't being played in the daytime. Loads of people are still in lockdown, to some degree, and the boredom time is more during the day than at night. The TV people, for all their whining about changed circumstances, have shown zero imagination - they're still thinking in terms of the standard Sunday teatime and Monday night. The initial idea was to make it more like a world cup viewing experience for a big captive audience. Night games aren't more atmospheric than day games when it's an empty echoey stadium.

Are they? By that time I'd say s large portion are back in work . Great to have footy back, at least a game a day nearly

I'm not watching the other games. I couldn't give a toss. But there's a big spread of non-subscribers out there, eager to watch and maybe invest in a 'package' (oh, what a great word to disguise real lack of choice!) in future, and loads of those will still be at home, watching feck all else during the day but ads like, 'Yay, I've sorted out my funeral, and it's ACE!!!' The odd weekday game in the afternoon would be worth the tv companies trying, the greedy shitarses.

If one of the few good things that comes out of this is football having to offer
(a) subscription TV companies being allowed to show games at 3pm Saturday INSTEAD of 5:15 etc so more games go back to 3pm Saturday
(b) free-to-air games being implicit in any future broadcast deals
(c) virtual season tickets

It costs quite a bit to power floodlights for evening games at big stadia. If the clubs really are penny pinching they should've gone for daytime games. The TV companies have done a worldy in somehow making out covering wall-to-wall games merits a rebate, plus loads of free extra access, rather than them paying more. There's obcviously some big financial concerns but the passivity and fatalism of some clubs is getting tiresome.

A decision on whether the Merseyside derby on 21 June should be played at Goodison Park or a neutral venue will not be taken until Friday. The relevant documents were not received until last Friday and the members of Liverpool City Council’s safety advisory group need more time to read them.

Anyone catch the artificial crowd noise on BT / Bundesliga matches yesterday?

Same to be used for prem games on Sky and BT apparently, but available on the red button, so you can choose if you want it or not.

"...the basic (crowd) noise is taken from the previous meeting and it is mixed with the real noise of the game. Reaction samples for scenarios such as penalties, fouls and decisions from VAR are created and "inserted" by a watching producer."

I liked it. The issue I will have about it being on the red button is most of the time those are the SD versions so will make it a poor viewing experience. Whenever the BBC have 5 live commentary on the red button it will use the SD channel pictures. It's bad on the eyes but better audio.

Current schedule has us playing Villa 3pm on the Saturday after we play City. Surely that will change? Would be ridiculous, especially as Villa not playing that midweek.
