A high honour and one he has earned.

Great stuff. I was at the Arsenal game at the emirates and he led the kids really well........cept we lost obv.

Shows the high regard that Rafa has for Kuyt. He certainly earned it. Congrats Kuyt!

He's been poor this season.

I'd save the congratulations till he shows a bit of form.

He actually started the season quite well with two early goals. He's been dire since though.

Dirk was dreadful tonight. That's about all I can muster at the moment. I'm bevvied. G'night

When Dirk's bad, he's hopeless. He just doesn't have much to fall back on if he isn't in good form.

Just had another look at some of the game tonight. He was fuckin useless. Couldn't pass to any of our players, couldn't get a decent cross in, couldn't shoot. The only thing I noticed that he could do was get in the way of Johnson once or twice and lose us possesion!

He's great when the whole team's playing great, cuz he'll harass the opponents non-stop, and pops up anywhere and everywhere cuz his legs can bring him there. But we can't rely on him much as an individual. Too one-dimensioned.

Yes you are right! Good one Dirk and at least he never hides even when he is shit.

I know this is a thread in honor of him. But he has been a huge part of our abysmal season almost our offensive version of Carra this year.
He'd never be in my first choice starting XI (unlike carra when in form, thats just the difference between attack and defense).
But he is in ours. I'd be willing to replace him with Benayoun (kind of my last chance to talk about him playing for a while 🙁 ), N'gog (2 strikers), or even Babel (for RW). But I'd rather buy a pacey talented wing forward that Dirk could mentor, instill his grit, determination and intangibles upon (his positive attributes).

I would agree with this 100% to be fair to Dirk though, he has to be knackered. Has he played every game for both us and Holland this year?

dirk is in horrible run of form now
[/quote]

Or he is just a horrible player. This seem to be more the standard than those run of forms. I want him out of the team now. Enough.

That's just it though. As much as we'd all like it to be true, you just can't train Dirk's commitment into a player. It's innate.

I think that there is this tendency to think that the sort of work ethic Kuyt displays just isn't out there in another attackers.

We've got a player in our team that (without looking at stats) seems to run just as much, track back just as much and cares just as much. How often do we see Yossi sauntering about the field?

Benayoun was as bad as Kuyt was last night.
