Robert Green - Huddersfield (free transfer)

Huddersfield Town has completed the signing of former England international goalkeeper Robert Green after his contract at Sky Bet Championship side Leeds United was mutually terminated.

The 37 year-old has put pen to paper on a contract running until the end of the current 2017/18 season, with the Terriers having the option of a further year’s extension.

Green has made over 650 appearances during his 21-year career and was ever-present for Leeds United last season.

The ‘keeper has been capped 12 times by England and has Premier League experience with Norwich City, West Ham United and Queens Park Rangers.

Rob will wear the number 28 shirt at Huddersfield Town.

Huddersfield Town Head Coach David Wagner commented:

"I think it makes total sense to bring Rob Green in because after Jonas Lössl, who has done an excellent job so far, we have very young goalkeepers with Joel Coleman and Ryan Schofield.

“I have spoken to Paul Clements and we agreed that we wanted to add more experience to our goalkeeper group.

“I met Rob and he is a very experienced guy and a good guy. He knows the role I expect from him in the next 10 months he’ll be with us. I’m very happy he can join us.”

Born on 18 January 1980, Green came through the youth system at Norwich City, making his debut for the Club on 11 April 1999 keeping a clean sheet against Ipswich Town.

During the 2001/02 season, the ‘keeper established himself as the Canaries’ number one, appearing 41 times as the Club was beaten in the Play-Off Final by Birmingham City.

A string of consistent performances followed and two years later he was key to Norwich City’s promotion to the top flight of English football.

After eight years at Norwich City, Green left to join West Ham United in the Premier League. In his first season with the Hammers he kept nine clean sheers in 26 games and earned a place in England’s 2010 World Cup squad.

Well over 200 appearances followed for the Hammers before a move across the Premier League to Queens Park Rangers in 2012. He played for the London club for four years before a move to West Yorkshire to join Leeds United.

Yoric Ravet - Freiburg (reportedly £4.2 million)

[article]Freiburg have signed a new right winger. Frenchman Yoric Ravet (27) has joined from Young Boys Bern. Reported fee is around 4.5 million euros and the hope is that Ravet goes some way to replacing the recently departed Maximilian Philipp and Vincenzo Grifo.[/article]
 
Jonathan Leko - Bristol City (loan)

[article]City have completed the season-long loan signing of West Brom attacker Jonathan Leko.

The 18-year-old has agreed the deal after completing a medical and he will link up his new team-mates after completing international duty with England Under-19s.

Head coach Lee Johnson told bcfc.co.uk: "We are always on the look out for quality and Jonathan has that.

"He also brings genuine pace and versatility in the forward areas.

"Thanks to Tony Pulis and West Brom for allowing the deal to happen.

"It's now up to Jonathan to work hard for the team and express his talent in a City shirt."[/article]
 
Jeremie Boga - Birmingham (loan)

[article]BLUES HAVE SIGNED ATTACKING MIDFIELDER JEREMIE BOGA FROM CHELSEA.

A season-long loan has been agreed for the exciting Ivory Coast international.

Boga, 20, who came through the Chelsea ranks, spent the previous two seasons on loan with French side Rennes and latterly Granada, in Spain.

He made his Chelsea debut on the opening day of the season, starting against Burnley in the Premier League.

But due to Gary Cahill’s early sending-off, he was substituted after just 18 minutes in a tactical measure.

Boga was born in Marseille to Ivorian parents and moved aged 12 to Chelsea.

He scored twice in the 2013 FA Youth Cup Final, which Chelsea lost to Norwich City on aggregate.

But he helped guide Chelsea to success a year later and also to the 2015 final triumph against Manchester City in a team that also included Tammy Abraham, Isaiah Brown and Dominic Solanke.

Boga has long been considered one of Chelsea’s most talented prospects and has often been used in the number 10 role.

Whilst gaining competitive experience he made 27 appearances for Rennes, netting two goals, and in Spain he memorably scored against Barcelona for Granada, among his 26 outings.

Boga’s skilful, agile dribbling and ability to go past people made him an impressive pre-season performer for Antonio Conte’s Champions, and earned inclusion in their first team squad.

He was capped by France at Under-16, Under-17 and Under-19 level, but committed to Ivory Coast five months ago and made his debut for them in June.

Boga - who will wear the number 20 shirt - is Blues ninth signing of the summer transfer window, which shuts on Thursday.[/article]

Siem de Jong - Ajax (reportedly £4 million)

[article]Ajax have re-signed Dutch midfielder Siem de Jong from Newcastle for a reported £4m fee.

The 28-year-old joined the Magpies from Ajax in 2014 for an undisclosed fee on a six-year contract, but struggled with injuries, including a collapsed lung.

He made just 26 appearances, mostly as a substitute, but played 23 times during a loan spell at Ajax's rivals PSV Eindhoven last season.

De Jong had targeted a top-four finish when he joined Newcastle.

It would have brought the club Champions League football, but instead they were relegated to the Championship at the end of his second season.[/article]

Patrick Roberts - Celtic (loan)

[article]CELTIC are delighted to announce that Patrick Roberts has rejoined the club on a season-long loan from Manchester City. The 20-year-old enjoyed a highly-successful 18-month loan spell in Paradise, scoring 17 goals in 60 appearances and playing a part in four trophy triumphs.

After moving to the Hoops from City in January 2016, the wing wizard soon broke into the starting XI and helped them to a fifth successive league title.

Under Brendan Rodgers last season, Roberts was one of the stars of the Treble Invincibles, his skills and spectacular goals making him a firm favourite among the Celtic supporters.

And after putting pen to paper today, Roberts admitted that the opportunity to star in front of the Hoops faithful again and play under the Irishman were big factors in his decision to return to Paradise.

“All the support and love I have been getting has been brilliant,” Roberts told Celtic TV in an exclusive interview. “I love it here and to be back is great and I’m thankful to be finally here.

“We had a good end to the season, which obviously helped, and playing for these great fans was also a factor coming back. It’s great to be back and I can’t wait to get going again.

“The manager has been brilliant with me. He obviously wanted me back and so did Celtic. I had a decision to make after pre-season and when that came around Brendan Rodgers was obviously a huge factor in that. He is a top manager. I worked under him all of last year and I believe I can develop under him even more and become a better player."

The winger will wear Celtic's iconic No.7 jersey, worn in the past by club greats such as Jimmy Johnstone and Henrik Larsson.

“It’s a massive honour to wear this iconic Celtic number." added Roberts. "I know some of the great players who have worn it in the past and I will wear it with pride.”

The England U20 internationalist will bolster the Bhoys as they target seven-in-a-row and another season of domestic dominance. He will also be eligible to feature for the Scottish treble-winners in the UEFA Champions League, where the Celts will go head-to-head with Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Anderlecht.

And Roberts revealed he had one eye on who the Hoops were paired with in last Thursday’s draw for the group stages.

“I watched it in Manchester with all the lads there, but I had an eye on Celtic to see who they got," said the winger. "It’s a hard draw but it’s good, and it’s where I strive to play in, while we know what this club can bring to the Champions League. I haven’t seen the Celtic lads yet but I’m sure they will all be looking forward to it and will be raring to go when it gets underway.

“Celtic Park was rocking last year in the Champions League and I’m sure it will be the exact same this year. I would love to be out there playing for the fans in that environment and entertaining them.”[/article]
 
Pape Cheikh Diop - Lyon (reportedly €10 million plus add ons up to €4 million)

Lyon have completed the signing of Spain under-19 midfielder Pape Cheikh Diop.

The 20-year-old, who had reportedly been on Tottenham's radar, joins Bruno Genesio's side from Celta Vigo for a reported fee of €10 million (£9.3m), with a further €4m in add-ons.

Diop scored one goal in 22 La Liga outings for Celta Vigo, with 17 of those appearances coming as a substitute.

Lyon tweeted a picture of Diop wearing the club kit and announced a press conference for Tuesday afternoon.

Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas told the club's official website: "We came to an agreement.

"He's a young player. We're making some high-end investments at the moment."

Kevin Wimmer - Stoke (reportedly £18 million)

[article]STOKE CITY are delighted to announce the signing of Tottenham Hotspur defender Kevin Wimmer in an £18M deal.

The highly-regarded Austrian international has penned a five-year deal at the bet365 Stadium after the two clubs shook hands on an agreement over the weekend.

Wimmer becomes the Potters seventh signing of the summer following the captures of Darren Fletcher, Josh Tymon, Kurt Zouma, Bruno Martins Indi, Maxim Choupo-Moting and Jesé Rodriguez.

Announcing the news, Chief Executive Tony Scholes said: “We are delighted to have been able to conclude a deal to bring Kevin to the Club.

“He has been in huge demand this summer having shown his qualities in the Premier League during his two years with Tottenham Hotspur, so we are delighted that he has chosen to continue his career here at the bet365 Stadium.”

Mark Hughes added: “Kevin is an undoubted talent and he will significantly add to the quality of the group of players that I already have at my disposal.

“We put a real emphasis on trying to enhance the defensive areas of the squad this summer and we feel that we have been able to do that.

The 24-year-old made 31 appearances for Spurs following his arrival from German Bundesliga side FC Koln in 2015.

He made such an impression in his maiden campaign in the capital that he was rewarded with a new five-year contract last summer, but he became increasingly frustrated by his lack of game time at White Hart Lane during the 2016/17 campaign.

The powerful, athletic and composed central defender has been linked with a move to numerous clubs in the Premier League and across the continent this summer, but has opted to make a move to the Potteries.[/article]

Stevan Jovetic - Monaco (reportedly €13 million)

[article]Monaco have officially confirmed the signing of Inter forward Stevan Jovetic on a four-year contract.

The Montenegrin international spent the second half of last season on loan with Sevilla, but was pictured yesterday wearing Kylian Mbappé’s number 10 shirt for the Monegasques.

Today the principality side have officially confirmed his signing, with the fee thought to be around €13m.

“AS Monaco is pleased to announce the arrival of 27-year-old Stevan Jovetic, who has signed for four seasons until June 2021,” a statement on the Ligue 1 club’s website read, before some quotes from Jovetic.

“I’m very happy to be here and I chose because Monaco is a great club, they’re in the Champions League and last year they won Ligue 1 so they have great players and that’s why I came here.

“They got to the semi-final of the Champions League and that’s a great thing, so I hope we can repeat that this year.

“I’m right-footed but I can play with both. People probably know me but I don’t like to speak about myself.”

Patrik Schick - Roma (loan for €5 million with obligation to sign)

AS Roma are delighted to confirm the signing of forward Patrik Schick from Sampdoria.

The agreement includes an immediate loan fee of €5 million and, upon the completion of certain sporting objectives, an obligation to make the transfer permanent for a further €9m.

The terms of the permanent transfer also include various performance-related bonuses, worth up to a maximum of €8m, based on the achievement of certain sporting objectives on the part of both the club and the player.

Additionally, Sampdoria are entitled to a final payment of €20m in February 2020. Should Schick be sold prior to 1 February 2020, the clubs have agreed that Sampdoria will be entitled to 50% of the eventual transfer fee or €20m – whichever sum is the greater.

Schick has signed a five-year contract with Roma that runs until 30 June 2022.

"I am very satisfied to be here and very happy,” Schick said. "For me Roma is the ideal team.

"I am looking forward to training with the group and getting ready for the upcoming games."

The 21-year-old joined Sampdoria last summer, going on to score 11 goals in 32 games in his first campaign in Serie A.

He finished the season with 13 goals in all competitions, before going on to impress for the Czech Republic at this summer’s European Under-21 Championship.

“Patrik is one of the brightest prospects in international football,” sporting director Monchi said.

“We are all very satisfied to agree this deal especially because, despite being chased by a number of clubs, he has chosen us.”

The 21-year-old, a product of the Sparta Prague academy, made his professional debut for his boyhood club in 2014. After an eye-catching loan spell at another Prague side, Bohemians 1905, during the 2015-16 season, last summer he joined Sampdoria on a permanent deal.

Schick made his full international debut for the Czech Republic in May 2016, scoring on his debut against Malta.

Lee Carsley - England Under-21s (National Specialist Coach)

[article]BLUES’ LEE CARSLEY HAS BEEN APPOINTED ENGLAND UNDER-21S NATIONAL SPECIALIST COACH.

It is a part-time position based around Carsley’s primary role as Head Professional Development Coach at Blues.

Carsley was brought in by Blues during the summer to oversee the development of the Club’s Under-23 players after he left his role as Manchester City Under-18s coach.

But he has always been highly-regarded by the FA after being drafted in by current England Under-21s Head Coach Aidy Bothroyd to help coach their Under-19s in 2016.

Carsley told bcfc.com: “I know the staff from working there last time. It was a big wrench to leave the FA, but having the chance to work at Manchester City I felt at the time was a big draw.

“The fact that I can now coincide doing the 23s at Birmingham with a part-time role at the FA with the England Under-21s is fantastic.

“I’m extremely grateful that the FA asked the Club and felt I was worth getting back and I’m equally grateful that Birmingham allowed me to take up the opportunity.

“I think it’s a bit of a feather in Birmingham’s cap, too, that there’s a coach close to the England squads who is working at the Club.”

Carsley misses Tuesday's Under-23s match against Watford after reporting to St. George's Park at the start of the week. But his duties will be worked around Blues commitments moving forward.

Carsley will assist Bothroyd with a crop of some of the best talents to emerge for England.

Thirteen members of England’s Under-20 World Cup winning squad in South Korea were called up for the opening two UEFA Under-21 European qualifiers against the Netherlands and Latvia.

Carsley noted: “This (appointment) gives me a better idea of the standard of players out there. Obviously we are trying to produce Premier League/Championship players ourselves. And to see what the best look like gives me a real gauge on what more we need to do with our players.

“A lot of the England team is the team I worked with when I was last there, with the Under-19s, so it will be good to see a lot of old faces and the way some of them have progressed in the last year-and-a-half is outstanding.

“I am really fortunate to be given this chance and I appreciate that the FA wanted me back.”

England Under-21s take on Holland in Doetinchem on Friday before hosting Latvia at Bournemouth four days later.[/article]
