Not sure if it's related, but the Boston Red Sox started kicking off their 100 year anniversary this week which goes through until next week. Maybe they decided to do this now since they'll be busy overseeing the festivities there until the end of the month.

Fair point. I suppose there's a danger of getting too cynical about such things. From that point of view in particular, it'll be interesting to see if he's replaced.
Well, my mad and completely unfounded prediction is that Kenny will be the new DoF and it will continue to be a fake job. This is the best way they could think of to ease him out of the manager's job. A major consideration was also the demands of the new manager who they have been secretly negotiating with for months. This new manager insists on getting hiw own way and controlling everything and he insisted that Comolli be removed and the DoF position become largely symbolic.
