if he doesn't want to play for us then its his loss, we've got a lot more promise than arsenal who seem to have been stagnating slightly. at least we (hopefully) have a vision now.
CL shouldn't be the most important factor in a player signing for us, but hell, it tends to be quite important. Some players would want CL, some people want want more money to lessen the blow of no CL. Some players might see us as a team to get them more in to the limelight.

Anyhoo, I agree when it comes to the players that havent joined City. Those who joined City doubled or trippled their wages, and the CL factor is obvs easier to ignore when you're name is Adebayor and earn 170k a week.

I don't really think a lot of this "I want CL football" comes from the players directly.
It's possibly a ploy by the agents to get a bigger pay-day by getting the player a higher wage deal by using CL as a stick.

At the risk of quiffing, I'd like to comment first by congratulating Oncy on putting some evidence on the table.
But secondly, I think it would be interesting to see how many of them had already experienced CL football when they moved. I think a player is less likely to move to a non-CL league club if he has an offer on the table from a CL club and thinks it might be his only or best chance to experience the tournament. Conversely, he's more likely to move from a CL club to a non-Cl club if he's already had a few years in the CL under his belt.
