So what's going on? I can't say I'm losing any sleep over their mysterious absences but does anyone know exactly what's going on there?

Do KD/SC not like their attitude? Fitness levels? Technical skills? Tactical discipline?

Looks like they're both surplus to requirements though - will we be able to sell them in the summer and make some munjoes?

neither are going to get much of a look in because the position they want to play (forward/striker) will be taken by suarez and carrol and then in the pecking order is gerrard/kuyt.

He obviously prefers Deadly to Wash in the new formation we are playing at the mo, and to be fair Deadly has been marvellous doing it.

Joke Hole is a bit strange I agree, he could be shipped out on loan now the 'emergency loan window' is open, same as Jovanovic.

The way Maxi has been playing, we could be better with Joe there instead of him?

I'd go with neither

both are too expensive to be kept on. get rid, buy quality wingers and use suso/raheem as the impact subs.

Possibly a chase of "if it ain't broke, don't fix it."? When the games come along thick and fast and Europa league resumes, they should be given a look in. It might have gone unnoticed but Cole was a doubt for yesterday's match as he injured a knee in training on Tuesday, thus Jovanovic's inclusion on the bench.

This page will bring you a complete list of all the Liverpool first team players currently sidelined with injuries, with details of their problem and their expected date of return.

I'm not losing sleep either, but I'd have these two in the squad ahead of Jovanovic or Maxi.

There are rumours that Cole isn't fit, but surely we should be able to change that? I mean, we're paying him enough money to stay in shape at the very least.

Kenny sees Cole's best position behind the striker if reports are accurate and that's where he played for the Reserves.

He has a minor knee injury but he'll be shipped in the summer if he is not featuring.

N'gog is not getting a sniff so I suppose that the search for another striker means the end of the road for him.

Depends on how Kenny plans to use Deadly long-term. If he sees him staying predominantly as a striker, you could be right. Otherwise N'Gog has enough about him to be a back-up striker for us IMO.

The kind of form that Deadly showed in the last 2 games makes it a no brainer I'm afraid.

That's the end of JC.

The Liverpool Chav connection is quite strong. Anelka, Yossi and Torres at the Chav, JC, Magic and Clarke at Liverpool.

I'm quite happy for N'Gog to stay as a squaddie. I'm not so sure he will be though. If end up buying a wideman or two and Kuyt is used as a striker as well, then I think we can cope without replacing him.

The Cole situation is quite weird. Is he injured?

yes, but let's be honest here, would he have had a sniff even if fit?

I'd have thought so, yeah. He's a 'star' player, he's on big wages, and he's barely had a chance as yet. I think his continuing absence is pretty mystifying.

I'm gonna let you in on a secret. It's a big cover up. He's actually dead.
If you play "forever blowing bubbles" backwards, about 1 min and 24s in a voice says that he actually died 8 years ago just before he was going to leave West Ham. The Cole we know is an imposter.

Explains how such a promising player became shit over night.

isn't part of the problem Cole will have, is that he quite often ignores the instruction he is given and the overall team game plan? I haven't seen as much of our games this year as I would like but he hasn't set the world alight as he?

Maxi whilst being palpably shit yesterday, at least tracked back on the right side of the pitch and kinda looked defensive. So for the moment is a better option than Cole.

Can see him definitely moving on.

Ngog from what I have seen has been unfairly judged on here, he has scored goals whilst playing under Roy, given a chance whilst we are playing better, he may surprise some.

Having said that once Carroll and Suarez are fit, will he get a sniff, will he bollocks. If he is ambitious he will move on.

I think Cole should be given a chance in Maxi's position in our new fluid 3-5-2 where he can move around a bit and not just come in from the left. Maxi is utter shit.

Also, does anyone know the duration of Cole's contract?

For real.

I think I covered this in a thread a few weeks back too. What does he fucking offer?

Apart from Markus Babbel and Gary McAllister, has any of our free signings became a little bit decent at least?

Dalglish believes Joe Cole is nearing a return to the side and could train with the side today following last week's setback, when he suffered a similiar injury to Shelvey.

"At the moment there is nobody that we know of that is coming back from international duty with any injury problems," he said.

"Obviously Joe Cole, who wasn't involved, could be training today as well.

"He's had a couple of injuries. Obviously he got off to a bad start when he got sent off in the first game. He lost a bit of the momentum he gained. He's picked up a few injuries after training very well here and then just tweaked his knee a bit.

"He'll be a bit frustrated but so are we because it's nice to see Joe on the pitch. But given a wee bit of luck, he shouldn't be too far away.

"We might not be too bad for bodies but as I say, we are not training until later on and we won't know until then, when everyone reports back."

i agree with the general thinking that cole is probably a better option than maxi. i quite like maxi, and i think he's underrated, but on his bad days he's completely useless.

i'd sell all 3 of them - ngog, maxi and cole - in the summer, though. i've never seen anything at all in ngog, and can't see him ever being good enough even as a backup, so imo pretty much any fee (£3m maybe?) would be a bonus.

we need to replace them, though, unless the youngsters are much closer to being ready than we think - let's face it, suso, sterling et al look a way off in terms of physical development.

you could sell all three and replace them with one winger of quality.
kuyt would take ngog's place on the bench.
the new winger would take max's place on the team.
suso/raheem could take cole's place on the bench.

job done.
