Seems strange he has not gone on the tour if it wasn't deemed that it would benefit him they may as well offload him as he is older than a lot of the recent academy players
Flanagan 01/01/93
Coady 25/02/93
Wisdom 09/05/93
Robinson 01/09/93
Sterling 08/12/94
Ibe 08/12/95

Is he getting more time to rest after the under 20s? If not, as you say, he would've benefitted from going with the squad. He could do with going out on loan.

He is 20.. so yes I imagine they will be looking to send him out on loan... If he is not on tour than maybe a deal is already in place..

I forgot about the under 20's tournament he took part in.. that could very well be the case..

Most likely. For that matter, maybe that's why Teixeira isn't joining up as well - he was there also, wasn't he?

I fear not. He's got a good range of passing and at his best he can control a game but it hasn't happened often enough so far and he lacks that dynamism that he needs in that central position. Mind you, the coaching staff appear to think he might become a CB, and spent some of last season working with him on that role, but I really don't see that working at all. He's a midfielder, with a much better all-round game than, say, Danny Guthrie or John Welsh had at the same age, but I suspect he'll end up playing for a mid-table team. Then again, fingers crossed, he'll suddenly kick on this season and really progress - I'm an incorrigible optimist when it comes to these things!

Thanks for that.

Coady is a leader on the pitch but I just don't think he has the quality to play for the first team. He just hasn't progressed imo.
Maybe this is a bad example but at his age Lucas got the player of the year award in Brazil.

Coady needs to go on loan, that's his only hope.

What he needs is a few more opportunities, especially in the Carling and FA Cup, if he stays. Otherwise, maybe we can loan him to Freedman at Bolton, since he can't afford Spearing.

For all the talk about Pacheco not getting his breaks, he's actually had 5 starts and 8 sub appearances for us in his career here - compare that to Coady's 1 start and 1 sub appearance, both under Rodgers last season. Missing out on the pre-season tour - probably due to the break after the U-20 competition - is not helping.

He's a versatile lad who can play multiple positions and that's always a plus. Last year of his contract though, I think, so it's make or break now.

Wisdom went to the U20's and is on the tour so I don't see that's the reason for him not going on the tour also seeing as though Pacheco didn't travel as well.

Flanagan was at the U-20s too but is travelling with the squad.

Perhaps Coady is on his way out on loan?

No Wisdom played for the u21s.

good luck to him. i'm hope i'm wrong but I can't see him making it unless he has a totally outstanding season in league one!

David Weir after Monday's 1-0 friendly victory over Alfreton Town
"I thought Conor made an excellent start, I've seen a lot of him in Liverpool's youth sides, he is comfortable on the ball and made a promising start."
England U20s captain Conor Coady is excited to join the Blades and is keen to break into David Weir's first team plans.

The Liverpool midfielder signed a loan deal until January at Bramall Lane on Monday and immediately made his debut, playing 60 minutes in the 1-0 victory over Alfreton Town.

"I'm looking forward to what the season has in store for me," said 20-year-old Coady. "It has been a busy few weeks for me, I played in the U20s World Cup, had a couple of weeks off and when I reported back to Liverpool, Brendan Rodgers called me in and said I was coming to Sheffield United, which I'm really excited about.

"I had the option to go on Liverpool pre-season's tour before coming here but I told them that I would rather get over to Sheffield United as quickly as possible to meet the lads.

"The aim is to play as much as I can, I want to break into the team as quickly as possible but I know it is going to take some fantastic performances because there are some great lads here.

"Brendan Rodgers was pushing for me to go out on loan and get some games and he says that David Weir is going to be a great manager, so I'm looking forward to working with him."

Scouser Coady rose through Liverpool's youth ranks and was captain of their U21s team last season. Additionally, he has played for every England at age group from U16s to U20s and was skipper at the FIFA U20s World Cup this summer.

“Conor is a good all-round player and technically very strong,” Weir said. “He‘s comfortable in a variety of different positions.

“We’ve got to thank Brendan (Rodgers) and a few others at Liverpool for making it possible for us to have him.”
“We were very pleased with him,” Weir said. “He did everything we asked.

“Technically, Conor is very strong. That’s evident and it was one of the reasons why we wanted to bring him here.

“He’s comfortable in different roles which gives us more flexibility and eager to learn which is also a good sign so we’re looking forward to working with him because the more competition the better.”

Good start for the lad - hope he has a great season over there and it's good that he's getting games. I hate it when one of our lads goes out on loan and sits on the bench.
