With regards to the Gundogan bandwagon, while he is indeed a fine player, part of me winces at the thought of our manager raiding his old club to reinforce our current setup. Comparisons can be drawn with Rafa's tenure when we kept being linked with Baraja and hoards of other Valencia players. In the end, only Pellegrino made it across shore. Instead, our Spanish armada started with Alonso and Garcia who remained the mainstay of our team years to come after that. I'd rather forget Josemi and Nunez. It's a given that we'll be raiding the Bundesliga for deals, but then again we have our famous technical committee to consider now.

Anyway, my point is raiding former clubs for players just gives Brendan Rodgers vibes for me. I'd like to see Klopp display a wider influence than that and I think we all know he has that charm to attract the very best of players to come and play for Liverpool.

Depends on the player. It's understandable that managers would look to sign players they know, but there's a danger that familiarity itself may cloud their judgment on how the player would work in a new club/environment/country.
