Why do you keep making reference to the fact that he's foreign Ibro? Do you think people are being xenophobic in some way here?
I don't think the bad reputation he has originates from the fact that he's African or foreign in general, it's just that he's seen to be a bit of an arrogant tosser. The Arsenal fans certainly don't seem to like him.

No Keni, I don't think people on this forum have an issue (perhaps, the Press).. and i actually disagree that the bad-will is because he's an "arrogant tosser"? Where do people/you get that from? All his interviews I've seen (not the written tabloid ones), but the one's where I actually see his mouth moving, he comes across as a decent, grounded, level-headed person.
Half of my family are Arsenal fans and from what I can glean, I think the real reason why Arsenal fans seem to have a problem with him is that they buy into this notion that "Wenger made him and ergo, he owes Arsenal everything". I guess that's what bothers me most, the whole attitude that "Wenger plucked him from nowhere" like he was some little pauper playing on the streets of Dakar and Wenger was some sort of Mother Teresa. When I talk about a growing bandwagon, it's one I think is pushed by the Press more than anything.
Fact is, for me, he doesn't owe Arsenal anything more than his displays. He wasn't brought up through their youth system, he wasn't brought to Arsenal as some reserve who wasn't getting games elsewhere, he wasn't given "a chance" at CL football at Arsenal, or any other kind of chance. He was a player with some potential at Monaco who had played at CL level for a few seasons before Wenger bought to Premiership and helped him realise his potential, after which he rightly wanted a new contract that reflected his improved displays. Arsenal weren't forthcoming, so he looked elsewhere as plenty of ex-Arsenal players have done in the past due to the similar reasons.

It seems Emmanuel disagrees with you. Or at least he did in May this year when he said this:
"Arsenal put me where I am today - they made me one of the biggest strikers in the world, I have to pay them back."
"How am I going to pay them back? Make them win trophies. That is what I am here for and I have to fight for that."
"I do not have any reason for leaving until I get the trophies that I came here for."
"We just have to play for our dignity, show character and hopefully come back".
Which appears to be in direct contrast to this:
"You are talking about in life and it is about money,"
"When we are young, of course we played because we loved the game, we play because we were passionate about the game.
"But now as soon as you reach a stage where you are professional and playing Champions League, after all those things we are talking about money.
"If it is not because of money, what am I going to be playing for Arsenal for? If it is not because of money I don't think I would go to Arsenal to play. I would stay in my country, I would stay in Lome where everyone loves me.
"If it's not because of money, I would not have come to Europe."
And he said this after signing a contract for City worth a reported £170k a week:
"People who think that I have joined City for the money are wrong."
"I want to win silverware and trophies. That is my ambition. The team has got quality and a manager who knows what he wants and is a nice guy."
The guy is an egotistical, money-grabbing mercenary - an unfortunate symptom of modern football.

You see that's where I think the Press have got a bandwagon rolling against the fella.
First of all, as I said above, all the interviews I've seen where his mouth was actually moving (not tabloid written ones) i've seen him say nothing wrong. Perhaps he's been putting on a great show, perhaps i've been hoodwinked. But just like all the 'apparent' daily Tevez interviews against Fergie, i'm always sceptical when the Press real these quotes with very little context, or worse still, interpreted from a different language. Personally, I think it's purely out of jealousy/fear of Man Citeh that everyone who seems to be joining them is being painted as a money-grabbing mercenary cnut. At the end of the day, it was Arsenal who wanted to sell him. With regards to Tevez, it just seems like the Press constantly rehash quotes of him criticizing Fergie to the point that it's got even Liverpool fans on this forum turned against him and backing Fergie (FFS).
Anyways, I've said my piece and I'm not one who feels the need to justify my opinion by winning some sort of argument. Personally, even if the quotes above were true, though out of context and not complete, I would still say that they aren't completely contradictory and if one knew the question posed to elicit such a response, one may understand the answers better. But hey, meh, i'm not here to change anyone's opinion on Adebayor or Tevez. I just think it's a victory for the Press. Maybe I'm wrong.
