Ciro Immobile - Borussia Dortmund

Dalla Germania all'Inghilterra, Ciro Immobile può volare... sotto la Cop. Sì, a Liverpool.

An Italian forward no less, you might want to adjust your head to the sky in preparation for looking up to this god of striking prowess

He was decent in fifa!

This rumour has refused to go away for some time now.

He's a decent striker but I don't think he is going to reach a level where he can be considered amongst the best in Europe.

He could be a consideration as a squad striker, but starting week in week out for Liverpool - sorry, no chance.

So he's a more expensive Borini.

You know we'll end up signing him when all our other 15 targets et snapped up by someone else.

Borini is more flexible in terms playing position, whereas Immobile is a proper centre forward.

TBH I can't see this happening & I'd say a move back to Italy is on the cards. He'd be a good signing for the likes of Lazio & Fiorentina.

I don't see how he fits into Rodgers' preferred systems ...

Me neither, and you can see what sort of effect having him step in for Dortmund this season has had in the league (3 goals), though he's done brilliantly in Europe. His record for Torino was great too, but that's Italy innit.

So I take it Borini, Lambert and Mario are all going then, not that it's any surprise. We have Origi and Sturridge while we seem nailed on to buy at least one more striker plus maybe someone like Ings. When you consider we generally play with one out and out striker, with Sturridge not content playing wide, nor Origi showing he can be consistently effective there, it seems a bit daft that we're being linked with the likes of Falcao and Immobile, who want to play through the middle too. It doesn't really add up.

He was wrong for Dortmund and he'd be wrong for us for all the same reasons. There are transfers where you might be able to explain away things not working out as planned, this wouldn't be one of them.

He's basically OK and has time to improve further, but I wouldn't care if he was tearing up the Bundesliga every week.

No. More. Italians.

Ever. (Apart from maybe Ancelotti.)

Long story short, is he any good?

I think hes decent, if not spectacular. Hes intelligent and works pretty hard, hes a very good finisher but not that skillful or creative. Hes not going to make you forget about Suarez but he has a good eye for goal and hed be an instant upgrade on anything we currently have bar Sturridge who is only available for every 3rd game. It hasnt worked out for him at Borussia but hes still managed 10 goals in 28 games this season but he was excellent last year at Torino. I dont think he would struggle with the physical nature of the premiership but the pace may be problematic for him at least initially. Could be a good signing for us assuming he doesnt cost an insane amount and people dont expect him to be Messi
