Chiri-sella?

Seems weird he's still here and clearly he's not wanted by any other clubs or he would have left. Anyone think he'll stay?

In all fairness I thought he looked decent against a strong villa side and also performed well against the Everton first team

I'd be surprised if a decent championship side wasn't prepared to take a risk on him purely off those two performances alone , he was hardly playing in strong sides in either of the two matches

If he like the area there is a club around the corner that can offer him regurarly Champinship football. Those CM's they have is shit compared to him.

Yeah, he made Sigurdsson and Schneiderlin look dreadful. I mean, they ARE dreadful, but he was head and shoulders better.

Do any of you see a character like the next iniesta or xavi in this guy ? I thought he was excellent in both cup games, wonderful range of passing. Why are we even thinking of letting this guy go ?

I suspect this is a move from the club to protect their right to get a fee for the player. Bosman ruling only applies to players over 23 (he’s 22) so if he’s been offered a contract, even if he doesn’t accept it, the club could still potentially claim for a fee if he moves at the end of the season.

He rejected a £3.5m move to Rosenborg 2 years ago. Would certainly fetch a larger fee now I guess?

If he moved to a UK club it would be a tribunal fee (like when we signed Danny Ings). If he moved abroad I think the FIFA training compensation regime applies and it’s only a small fee. Either way I’d be surprised if we get near the Rosenborg offer if he doesn’t sign a new deal. In his position, I wouldn’t do that.

We got 1.3 mill for Suso

I've always had a soft spot for Chirivella.

At the start of every pre-season, I always wondered if it was finally his time to break through, until the hope faded away...

Still I'm pretty impressed that he's still here fighting away. Never bitched, never moaned and never threw a fit to get himself a move.

I do too. He seems to love it here and he's a lovely little player. Hard to see him breaking into our team with the current system/s though.

He's certainly not going to dislodge Fabs or Hendo but if he's happy enough being a backup DM I could see it. He tackles well, has a lovely range of consistent passing and runs his little socks off bless him. Maybe just his size goes against him in the PL in that position where he'd also be up against tall and fast attackers.

We've had a few promising midget midfielders in Welsh, Spearing, Rossiter and now Chirivella. Poor guys.

Btw no chance he'll stay.
Now that Fabinho is back he won't start the FA cup game either.
