As per AS, they've signed Aguero - who will move there officially in June.

It seems like a good pick up - though it means one of the strikers will have to go.

But he may have issues in England - as the one thing my season ticket holding Atleti friend keeps on saying when describing him is, "lazy bastard" ...
 
Yeah, I don't think your Atleti mate is alone in that opinion.

Aguero needs to get out of the A.Madrid circus though as he's done all the improving he can there I reckon. It's just a shame that he won't be picking things up with us.
 
I always thought he was more a forward type, but whenever I've seen Atletico play, he's more like a no 9 type of striker.

Can he play between the lines?

There's only a handful of players we could sign in world football who would excite me more than Aguero. I'd be gutted if the Chavs got him.

My bad - It's what my friend is saying - and he had Torres down early too (I was a wee bit worried about that 'story' too). AS is just confirming the rumors that Chelsea want him.

Desperate? I thought Torres would struggle in England. I was wrong. I thought Veron would struggle. I was right. I thought Sheva would be shit, I was right. I thought Nani would be fantastic, I was wrong. I thought Ronaldo would be good after watching 'that' friendly (Lisbon/Manure), pity I was right. Fact is, Atleti fans think he's a lazy bastard and that says something because they, unlike you, watch him week in and week out. I won't lie, I like the kid a lot but just because he looks dynamite on your youtube flicks doesn't translate into a 'success' in the Premier League or with a top 4 team in England.

So you have no link whatsoever to your 'we could have had him a few seasons ago' link - but it's just there to say, "Another screw up for Rafa, sign up Steve Bruce'

There was LITTLE SPECULATION - He said he had a soft spot for us after the Champion league final (2005). Big speculation there.
 
The explanation given, I believe, was that it was deemed that 17M for a teenager from South America was too much of a gamble.
