I'm pretty confident the owners are doing an awful lot behind the scenes to get the right person in place. I've got no concerns about them and am quite happy they're not conducting their business in the open just to feed the appetite of fans hungry for news. We lambasted Hicks and Gillett for airing their dirty linen in public, now the new owners are just as bad for doing the opposite.
I'd be surprised if they were already working to get the right man - until Wolves and Blackburn, it seemed they had no contingency plans in place to replace Roy in the interim. I really do believe you should take your time, but they came in and then vanished for three months. AWOL. It was about 6 weeks too long. They have to act with more urgency - not rushing, but urgency for a CEO, a manager and an interim solution (which we have).

I hope they've learned their lessons and will be more engaged.

Honestly mate, I rate you as a poster but this is moonshine. After the demise of H and G everyone should have learned the lesson that major changes of this kind just aren't played out in public until the management are ready to make their move. Subtracting 6 weeks from three months leaves about 7 weeks, and I'd call that rushing even if you wouldn't. It's precisely that kind of approach which got Roy his job to start with.
Thanks JJ, seriously, I just feel there's been a needless sense of drift. They let Roy drift on for too long. They wrote off this season, and they didn't have to. No CL footy till Aug 2012 if we're lucky. Malaise has set in, players are alienated, decline perceived. If they had of communicated on a regular basis a little here and there, at least people would have felt the ship had a captain. It seems like they just bought it for a bargain and have no urgency...I fear they do not realize we are counting on them to be solid stewards..

But I could be just "knee jerk!"
It's very knee-jerk.

You were right to want to want Hodgson out quickly admittedly, and there are a few doubts around these Americans, but I don't think we're in a position to be too critical right now. They've done everything the fans wanted.

Mate, you're a true Red who cares about the club, as we all do, but I honestly don't think there's any need for panic. If nothing else persuades you, recalling that NESV paid $300 million should settle your fears. They really aren't about to p!ss that kind of money away.

true enough!

I'm so fecking excited. It's like Aragorn is back to save the day at the gates of Gondor....

Peter Lawwell strong favourite to become the next CEO of LFC
Celtic chief executive Peter Lawwell is emerging as the strong favourite to become the next CEO of Liverpool, with his biggest challenge coming from Anfield commercial director Ian Ayre. If Lawwell, who turned down the same post at Arsenal, is appointed he will have a key say in the Liverpool managerial future of Kenny Dalglish, one of Celtic's all-time greats.

-------

Lawwell is considered a tough transfer negotiator at Celtic and has excellent contacts in European football - not least at Uefa, where his fellow Scot, David Taylor, is general secretary. Having substantially lifted Celtic's turnover during his spell at Parkhead, his CV appears well suited to Arsenal. His background is as an accountant and finance director, having had a spell in the property-development business on the Clydeport authority, fitting in with many of the core skills Arsenal require of their new broom.

The club is set to announce a strong set of half-year accounts this week, with further discussion of whom to appoint at a board meeting on Thursday.

I think His Majesty may be making an oblique reference to Rick Parry there. If so, I know exactly what he means, but this Lawwell guy seems cut from different cloth. I especially like the bit about him having substantially lifted Celtic's turnover. It wouldn't hurt either that he presumably knows Kenny.

EDIT: However, we appear to have a mystery candidate coming up on the rails....

Liverpool is a long term investment for FSG. I, like many other posters didn't like the way they fiddled while Rome burnt as the expression goes. Still they were decisive in their action. I like that.

The CEO appointment has be right for the club and must fit the vision for the future. It's a pivotal position. Get it right the first time!

Would we have heard of him anyway? The only 'candidate' I'm aware of whose name means anything to me is David Dein.

It's really quite hard to get excited about a CEO, no matter how important the position is behind the scenes.
