Celtic manager Neil Lennon has set his sights on making Liverpool striker Dani Pacheco one of his newest recruits ahead of the new season.

A series of cameo appearances for the Reds' senior squad this season as well as impressive displays for the reserve team caught the eye of scouts, who have recommended the Spanish starlet to the Parkhead legend as he aims to rebuild his squad for the new campaign.

If given the go-ahead by Bhoys chiefs, interim manager Lennon plans to secure the services Pacheco, 18, on a season-long loan, with the player unlikely to cement a place in Rafael Benitez's starting line-up behind the likes of Fernando Torres, David Ngog and Ryan Babel.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

Sell El Zhar and put Pacheco on the bench!!!!!!!!!!!!

If he was to be loaned out it'd be better if it was in the premier league but a trip to Scotland would toughen him up for sure.

I'd like our new manager to have a good look at him during pre season before sending him out on loan.

Heh, he can't get ahead of n'gog

Ngog would be the better option for us to loan out..

i think he would actually blossom in scotland playing regular football..

Pacheco however will just get kicked and surely with him being Spanish it makes sense to keep him around other spaniards.

Rafa is willing to take a stupid risk like bringing N'Gog on for Torres, but he won't take a clever risk by giving Pacheco a game. :🙂

Sell him.

He's looked like a very bright spark in a very dark season - but will never get a chance under the current regime.

If he was to go out on loan, I'd rather see him go on loan to a club on the continent in a league like the Eredivisie, Ligue 1, or Jupiler League etc ... where there is a greater focus on technique.

I'm not a fan of sending any startlet to the SPL ... what are they going to learn there?

What is the philosphy and technical standard of that league?

Yes, Pacheco will most likely get more game time at Celtic but I fail to see how he will progress as a player chasing long balls for a majority of the game.

It's what Torres has to deal with.

What happened to Mowbray?

He was sacked for tons of reasons; the foremost of which wa that he lost far too many games.

I'm not surprised e was sacked really, they were terrible the last time i saw them.

It's more the fact i've not heard anything about it, and the fact i haven't heard celtic fans bumming off their posterboy.

And by sending Pacheco to a more technical league that prefers style/technique over long ball tactics, we will hopefully not only improve our style of play but it would be of great benefit to someone like Torres if Pacheco makes the grade.

So now he´s just a "starlet"...and if he goes out on loan then it´s bye bye.
That´s a fact!

Spot the person who has no clue whatsoever of the brand of football played by Celtic, which is never long ball. He'll also be guaranteed some European football (until Christmas anyway!)

The SPL would certainly toughen a player up, something they will need for the prem and not get in certain continental leagues. It wouldn't be a bad loan move at all.

I have reservations about it, as I always do when any of our lads on the brink of the first team go out on loan.

I think we need to keep control of him, there is no reason why he should not be getting more time on the pitch with us than he does to be honest.

regards

I agree 100% bro! I think it's a real shame that Rafa regards Pacheco as expendable. I reckon this lad has an ability to unlock defences that is sadly lacking in our regular squad. OK I could be wrong but I would have loved to see him get more of a chance. >🙁
