Cashley anyone?

Dreadful idea in fairness.

After you name all 34 year old's that aren't doing well in the Premiership.
The fact that there's no 34 year old full backs in the Premiership and Cashley couldn't cope in a league full of old players should be enough to tell you how far downhill he's gone.

As for 34 year olds not doing well:
John Terry - the heart of the 3rd worst defence in the league

Yes but this is Ashley Cole we're talking about. It's not your average fullback.

A couple of oldies doing OK in the prem:

Carrick
Jags
Delaney
Barry
Demichelis
Colo

Everyone thinks you're wrong. Not one person thinks it's a good idea. I'm not sure what conclusions you draw from that, and I don't much care anyways.
So why do you bother answering Mr lookatme? Doesn't make sense at all.
But you know what since you're after attention, here's a "like". May it bring you joy and a sense of fulfillment.

Dude, you're the one publicly defending flogging a dead horse, so it's a bit rich to claim he's the one looking for attention.

Modo, no one wants a present day Ashley Cole in our squad.
OK, that's exactly the type of answer I'm looking for.
I made a suggestion and you think I'm wrong. Key word being think.
I personally think it's a bit arrogant to say that I'm wrong without being Marty McFly.
Look through the thread, I never claimed that he was a guaranteed success. Another case of a simple suggestion turned into a I've got a bigger dick than you discussion.

I dunno if I'd be bothered giving you the benefit of the doubt here Modo. You have an impressive knowledge of players currently playing in various European leagues. Why not suggest one of them if we need full backs? No one is going to want to support a move for a present day Ashley Cole even if it's only for 6 months. You must have known this before your 'simple suggestion'. The majority felt it was a terrible idea and told you so. No big deal. You then tried to defend your suggestion by naming other 34 year old players who are doing okay in the league. It was a bad suggestion is all. I don't even believe you actually want us to try sign Cole for six months. But you tried to defend the suggestion and you are now playing the victim by claiming we are being arrogant towards you. We aren't being arrogant and you are the only one trying to turn it into a dick measuring contest by defending a silly suggestion to sign a present day over the hill Ashley Cole.

Given my breadth and extensive knowledge of all things football I've decided signing Cole would be a good thing. I hope that justifies your thread @Modo *runs*

By the way I'm not 100% sure what a full back is.....

I was challenged to name a few old players, ILD.
Also, its not totally unprecedented to sign old players. Ferguson signed Henrik Larsson and Sheringham.
We signed McAllister.
But you know what make of it what you want. It'll probably never happen anyway.

See this is exactly what I say regulalry, if you have to delve more than 10 years into the past to find a good example for your argument then it's probably not a good argument.

The Premierships physical demands have increased, only DM's and CB's can cope at age 34 and not even that well.

That's some serious existential shit you have going there. I never knew you were a fan of Kierkegaard. A 'Like' for you 🙂

I agree. It's not unprecedented. I just can't see anyone wanting to make a case for signing Ashley Cole. I am suprised you are bothering to make a case for him. He isn't a very likable person and he seems to be past it at Roma. Do you really think we should go for him?

I know that it's a gamble and that he's old and that he isn't very liked. So those are the negatives.
The positives?
He's a winner. He's got premiership and international experience and he's free.
A little over one year ago people were pissed off that he didn't make the world cup squad. Some (including me) still regarded him as the best left back in England. Sure a lot can happen in a year, but I'm not sure that he's done.

I think you are overacting here, you suggested it, everyone said no way and when pushed gave legate reasons why it wouldn't work.

Don't take it personally but don't say stuff like unless you have a flux capacitor you can't know for sure as that's very silly.

You can say that about absolutely every potential signing.

Let's see which other club with top 4 ambitions signs him. It'll likely be top 4 somewhere where soccer plays second fiddle to baseball, public executions or cricket .

And the old Modo returns.
I personally find nothing wrong with Modo's post. (I'm assuming by your post you do) - He had a genuine question. He asked it politely. Carried on asking the same question a few more times. Then maybe a few more times. Then to be a bit cheeky he asked it again. What's annoying about that? Boring maybe but hardly annoying.

The genuine question was fine. His responses later was not so fine.

I don't really care about Modo but I do think he was a better poster following his ban - less brattish. Still, he entertains the site so carry on.

He is a great poster and does entertain the site, Maybe not in the way he intends but he does....
