Skully is quite wrong.

Having watched him a fair bit this Season at Newcastle he not only stood out as an unplayable striker but also a rather clever footballer. Often either scoring or creating their goals.

Yes his first touch can improve but sometimes it's rather good too. Just take a look at this first-time play for Suarez in the first half. Great vision and good technical skills from Carroll almost created a goal.

I'm certain he'll become a great player for us. In many ways.

carroll actually holds up the ball.

heskey was SHIT at holding up the ball (other than his 2001 purple patch) as a slight nudge would see him crumple to the floor in a heap

crouch was SHIT at holding up the ball as he would he receive the ball and then run deep into our own half to lay off the ball to the person who passed to him in the fucking first place.

I fucking hated the pair of 'em.

Agreed re crouch. It REALLY pissed me off. He'd usually dribble round someone going towards his own goal before he did it too.

Yup.

I did think Carroll's first touch left a lot to be desired last night though.

Carroll wasn't brought up playing samba footy on some beach or even in the parks of Madrid. He's got the touch of a drunken rapist and always will have. That's not what he was bought for, he can still be worth every penny spent on him. Win the headers, hold the ball up and when he gets a chance lean over the fucker and belt it hard enough to burst it. He's fucking ace.

It did, but I'm not sure he gave a fair account of himself in that respect. I've seen him hold the ball up a lot better for Newcastle. I'm hoping it was just a lack of match sharpness.

carroll and skrtel has a really good method for corners. skrtel stands in front of carroll and then blocks off any defender that tries to get to carroll. nice.
you could argue that it prevents skrtel from going for the ball but seeing as skrtel is shit in the air it's no big loss.

so, after carroll's best game in red...

'the white drogba' do you see it? do you think carroll can get close to that level?

As I've said before no way. They are two completely different players.
And no, Carroll isn't bigger than Drogba.

BTW Didn't hear "Sweet Carroll 9" yesterday, just confirms that it's too gay to be sung.

There's only one Andy Carroll works just fine.

He'll be stronger in some areas and weaker in others, but I'm convinced he'll prove as effective as Drogba. He's hardly far off at the moment.

Does anyone else find it strange that Carroll is left footed? A big hard traditional english centre forward, surely he should be right footed. Maybe it's just me but I always thought left footed people to be the skillful pansy type.
