If evolution was faster than Crouch it would have created, through natural selection, a 'beanpole' defender who was incrementally quicker than Crouch.

Having watched Skrtel tonight I'd say it is of utmost importance to bolster in our central defense.

Id love to get him. I think Baines and Young would be good signings too.

In certain positions it's not a necessity, he's a centre forward so he'll have pace deployed around him. He's there to be the fulcrum of the attack, which everyone else will feed and feed off, that will be one ploy anyway. He's not slow by any means, for anyone who's seen enough of him this season, he's not 'Torres' fast either but he's no slouch. It's not as though we've got one plan and that's to play him on the shoulder of the last defender, he's there as a target, to hold the ball up, to attack crosses and to bring others into play.
He's not Thierry Henry, but then neither were Toshack or Sheringham.
