Carra's '5' to te Chelsea supporters

Embarrassing the way the cameras followed Stevie, Torres and Rafa around, hoping they'd burst into tears or something. Any genuine emotion that might have been there for them would have turned to irritation pretty quickly.

I hope two of the three are still here next season.

Waste. Of. Time. Fark.

Yea...

I'm trying to let the poison out, what a fucking horrible day, I just found out I have to work tonight as well.
where are you working? down a coal mine? in a chimney sweep? if your dad hung a treble flag on your wall when you were 2 wouldn't that make you 12 now? its admirable that you want to help your parent with the bills but you're pissing away your childhood and the best years of your life.

I went back out to watch the parade. I was trying desperately to get some kind of clue as to what might happen in he summer by analysing the behaviour of key people seeing as it might be the last time some of them might be exposed to that many fans in their home setting. I thought that if they knew they were off, we might get some kind of grand gesture from one or more of them.

Gerrard looked apologetic/pissed off his family couldn't join him.
Carra looked like he wanted it over as quickly as possible.
Torres tucked himself into the middle of the crowd and didn't seem to clap one section of the crowd at all.
Rafa looked like he was going through the motions rather than giving a big 'goodbye' gesture.
The only two who gave off a really relaxed 'we'll see you next season' feeling were Pepe and Dirk.

Now, either the whole lot of them were a bit embarrassed at having to do a lap of 'honour' after such a shambles of a season or there's a lot of unresolved futures out there walking round that pitch and we may never again see some of our favourites in that context.

Or both...

Is that season when we won f*ck all and Utd won the league again. Or maybe I'm confusing with all other similar seasons of late.

I don't rate success as one of wins in the league. I rate success as the number of trophies won.

And recently our record ain't very impressive. Sticking up 5 fingers now just looks pathetic.

I did like Carra's comment at half time though.
Oh fucking forget it.

Are you pointing out to me, ever so instructively, that Liverpool haven't competed for trophies on the same level as the title winning teams over the last two decades? Thanks. You could be a sports journalist. Or a shit commentator. Cut to Rush in the crowd, what's your tedious musing about what he's thinking watching our current state of affairs?

Sticking up 5 fingers wasn't pathetic by Carragher, it's showing a bit of fucking fight when feeling completely humiliated. Carragher knows more than anyone else we've got nothing to brag about at present. There have been things to brag about over the last few years though, and massive reasons to be optimistic. Yes, it is very shit now. My point is, so fucking what, that's hardly a new development. We've been vacillating between mediocre and not quite good enough for a long while now, punctuated by massive success, and in so doing have at the very least kept up with the growth of the league. If not for a shit economy, and a couple of unprofessional cunts with an unhealthy appetite for risk, we'd have consolidated our position even further, even if we didn't reach the summit.

There's a lot of uncertainty and awful press surrounding the club right now, and morale is at it's nadir, but what is the point of saying "these days we have to rely on history", when that's been the case for a fucking long time now. Did this just occur to you? Opposition fans have been making that point for years. And to act as if there's been nothing to crow about? Perhaps Champions League 2005 posters will shortly look as sadly irrelevant as the treble flag my dad put in my room when I was 2, but at least I have a memory of the former.

Ugh, this is like something you'd read on an Everton forum.

Liverpool won't be the most successful team in England in historical terms for much longer, and it offers nothing of relevance to our current issues, so I'd suggest giving it a rest.

hypocrite?

No, Terrier.

It's not hypocrisy.

One is trying to salvage a little pride seeing the joke we've become.

The other is laughing at Owen because we think he wont win the title (which he will, if not this year, then another)

In the one instance, a person typing on a message board is trying to salvage joy out of Liverpool's unqualified failure. This is achieved by counting chickens before they are hatched and pointing to the theoretical far less dire failure of a rival's player.

In the other, a player who was heavily involved in fucking up Chelsea's European ambitions on multiple occasions, having himself played a massive part in winning one of the five trophies he referred to, was, in a moment of humiliation mustering some sort of defense of his, and his clubs achievements.

So yea, they are really analogous.

And by the by, even if I were being logically inconsistent, or self contradictory, that wouldn't make me a hypocrite, because that's not what that word means.

Watching that hurts. Really. Physically. Like knowing that I don't have much time left with my beloved dog Ali... I don't want to think about what the (near) future may hold.

I had to turn it off.

I'd rather Carra keep his hand down and concentrate on the game. It just looks awful.

What if Forrest come up next year should them run to the Chelsea fans and stick up their hands?

I actually think that would be great. For all they've accomplished this past decade, Chelsea have yet to win the trophy they crave.

The game was fucking over, what on earth are you talking about? Did you even watch the video?

Can you imagine someone next to you watching after a game and saying something like this? Why the fuck do you care if the player who I'd imagine is hurting more than any other in the squad wants to give some plastic cunts some stick.

"Oh deary me, I find it unseemly for Carragher to be holding his hand aloft in that manner, it's dreadful. He should concentrate on the game that ended 10 minutes ago." I didn't know a sentiment could be so punchable.

DB, there is nothing wrong with reminding the plastic Chelski fans of our history and tradition.
Wasn't the kop bouncing to "Fuck you Chelsea FC, you aint got no history" during the famous CL ties and noone seemed to find that cringeworthy.

It seems like you're creating something out of nothing and using it to remind us we haven't won the league in 20 odd years as if we weren't aware. We know we can't live off our past, nor do we want to but Carragher giving the 5 to the Chelsea supporters isn't as pathetic as you make out.

If you thinks Carra's was bad remember how Torres showed the five fingers to Manc fans after scoring the equalizing goal at Old Trafford last season.
How embarrassing!

I think that was somewhat different considering it was during the game plus the fact that we were actually their nearest rivals for the title at the time

Farky wins by KO.

It was never even a fight. It didn't even get to the fucking ring FFS.
