Bravo old man. Bravo.

Carra will be resuming his Sky punditry role from August, to the surprise of hardly anyone. He's on a "final warning" though, so he can't be spitting at people in cars again:

"We’ve spoken to Jamie and reminded him of the standards we expect. He has shown remorse, is hugely apologetic for the offence he caused and has taken the appropriate steps to make sure that the incident will not be repeated."

Not sure what those "appropriate steps" are? (insert your own joke here)

I wonder how this will affect his "speaks his mind" brutal honesty style of analysis? Every controversial thing he says will get the usual hordes of Twitter Spastics descending on his timeline with "at least he never spat at a teenage girl" etc etc.

A pound to a penny says it'll make not a jot of difference. He'll still say what he wants to say, and if it ends up taking him off the air he won't give a monkey's.

I just wondered if he'd be a bit more humble, uncontroversial and reserved, at least for a while*. I didn't suggest he'd say anything that might get him suspended, as he's never had any issues before.

*That would be a mistake, obviously, as it would make him far less interesting and valuable.

Fair points but my bet would still be "no", partly because I suspect he's fly enough to realise he'd be making himself less marketable as you say.

Yeah, this.

Hysterical people will always find reason to be hysterical. No-one else will give a shit.

I don't mind Carra, as much as alot of people do anyway. He can be a bit cringey and for all the bants, some of his comments on Twitter to fellow pundits and players, managers etc are a bit out of order. But he's an honest guy and I appreciate his assessments of games and players, in the studio after the match. He'll learn from this and then probably upset someone else in a few years.

I just cannot understand what compelled him to actually do that in the first place.

He was angry. This is the same man who threw a coin back into the crowd when one hit him. It's unlikely he considered that the odds of hitting the coin-thrower were quite low.

For all his posing...I don't think Carra really is a smart guy. I used to think he was a step above compared to Stevie in the brain department...now I think opposite

Surely they're going to have to have a word with Neville else he's going to go after him the very first time they're back on TV and take the piss, Carra would the other way.

Neville was one of the first to come out and support him. Taking the piss is one thing, but I don't think there will be any malice because they enjoy working together.

Yeah, I don't imagine there will be any banter regarding this. That will just been seen as making light of the matter and people will have to climb all the way back onto their soapboxes.

The spitting Incident is pretty unforgivable. I'm surprised he is being welcomed back to sky; a real last chance saloon for him. Carra style is probably better suited to radio.

It was a stupid thing to do, particularly to a low life tosser, but unforgivable? Really? There are quite a lot of things in life that are worse than that.

He has made it back on tv, even after the incident was filmed. His previous good character helped

Yes there are indeed. If Carragher had firebombed a school church full of children, he would never be allowed back on Sky's football coverage
