Jordan Henderson’s Christmas parties at Anfield

Ellie Phillips wrote the following about Jordan Henderson:

So today I worked a Christmas party organised by Henderson which he paid the lounge hire (over £2000 in the Kenny Dalglish stand) invited 3 lots of people and communities with underprivileged or disabled kids, filling a room each time.

He paid for all of the food, entertainment and brought Lallana along with him to meet everyone and sign their programs/take photos.

Then to top it all off he had bought each of the kids a decent present for Christmas (including iPads for older kids).

They’re both honestly the most humble, down to earth, generous people & made a lot of kids Christmas’s today. Our captain is boss

It would have been nice seeing the reaction of the kids.... Credit to him and Adam.
Wish for the kids Mo could have been there

Millionaire footballers and all that but it's very easy not to be arsed with this stuff, nice to see

The real question here is; are Henderson and Lalana banging the arses off each other. If so, huzzah!

There are loads of other non-famous ordinary folks who do this kinda mother teresa thing, day in and day out for years, sometimes their entire lifetime, unnoticed and unbothered about any attention or adulation, yet hardly anyone talks about them unsung heroes.

No hashtags. No insta-fame. Nothing. They just get on with it.

Nothing wrong with our lads and what they're doing. Just my own reflection is all.

Are you one of them?

Read this in the Guardian comments today:

I don’t know much about football, I’m not really a fan either but my 15 year old brother is a huge fan. He’s utterly obsessed with the team and has been for about 10 years.
He has autism and big crowds/loud noises disorientate him so he’s never been able to go to a game, sadly. But for his 15th birthday my Mother wanted to take him to Anfield for his birthday on one of the club tours. She called and asked if they had quiet sessions (quite a lot of places do things like this for people who need quiet) but was told that they didn’t but asked for her contact details and a bit of info on my brother.
A couple of weeks later somebody from the club got back to her. They recognised by brother’s name as he’s always writing to the club for autographs (which always come) over the years. What they had organised is for him to go and watch the club train at Melwood.
He got a private tour of the training ground, got to watch the team training pitchside, got to meet all the players training afterwards who then ALL signed a training ball they had been playing with and presented it to him with a new LFC kit.
Didn’t just make his birthday I think it was possibly the best thing he’s ever experienced in his entire life. It was a fairly simple thing for Liverpool FC to arrange but not one they had to; it was just an act of kindness and gratitude to a big fan.
I don’t think my brother will ever stop talking about this. For that alone I’m praying that Liverpool win the league. Every time they win like today and I check the score I know my brother will be smiling and that’s good enough for me.

Seriously, things like this make me as proud to be a Red as anything we do on the pitch, but I happen to think the former helps the latter as well. What we sometimes call karma is real.

Absolutely and it's a pity they are not publicised (even just to inspire others to do the same) however that doesn't mean we shouldn't respect and admire it when one of our own does it too.

That's a fair point but I believe these charities like and in some cases may need the publicity that comes with being associated with footballers. For right or for wrong young people often look up to footballers, so hopefully these types of gestures would be a good influence on them.
