Christ their website's yellow. Hurts your eyes.

I don't think there are any. This is the sort of thing LFCTV should do, and they're only promising a few minutes of 'highlights' tomorrow.

Stream?

You'd actually watch?
[/quote]

Got nothing else on tonight, just chilling in the living room, i will have it on and watch odd five minutes. Want to see Mavinga and Buchtmann.

It's a weird ground. They shout 'moose' for no reason I can work out, and sing 'I've got a lovely bunch of coconuts'. Most peculiar.

2 things. Good to see Buchtmann in with the ressies and what the fuck is hamill doing as sub for them????

he's better than El Zhar....

In a low key first half, both teams kept the ball on the
velvet surface and passed it neatly but neither threatened too
much damage to the opposition goal, although the first chance
came after just 54 seconds when Jordi latched onto a through
ball but Danny Potter saved with his legs.
The young visitors enjoyed more of the early possession but
United, watched by their new manager, slowly got into the
game, although they had to be alert to the danger posed by the
pace of Alex on the left wing and Jordi, a tall Dutch striker
with quick feet. The pair combined to test Potter on occasions
but the keeper rose to the occasion.
Mark Beesley was lively for United and beat his marker in the
18th minute but his raking pass was just too far ahead of Andy
Parkinson for the former Liverpool trainee to latch onto.
United were almost caught out on the half hour after some
overelaborate defending as Wayne Hatswell misjudged the ball
and left Andras Simon with just Potter to beat but the keeper
blocked his shot and Jordi hit the post from the rebound.
The reasonably competitive and even half ended with Liverpool
on the attack. Two minutes before the whistle Simon tumbled
under a challenge from Robbie Willmott on the edge of the
area, but Vincent Weijl sent a curling free kick into Potter's
arms.

Everyone's asking about Hammill when that Flora lad hasn't been given a proper look either. I think he was bought the same time as N'gog, no?

There were several changes at half-time, three for United and
four for Liverpool, with United's Josh Coulson replacing
McAuley, Chris Holroyd coming on for Crow and Courtney Pitt
for Willmott, and they livened things up.
There was a lot more purpose to go with the passing football
after the break and the U's threatened eight minutes after the
re-start when Dan Gleeson scampered down the right. His cross
was met by Beesley who slipped but still managed to get to the
ball, directing it inches wide, and the same man drove a
long-range shot wide minutes later.

United made further changes on 62 when teenager Sam Ives
replaced captain Paul Carden, who left the pitch to a
thunderous ovation, and on 70 when Ben Farrell came on for Jai
Reason, while Liverpool also made five further changes midway
through the half.
United were looking more potent in the second period but they
fell behind on 73 minutes when former Real Madrid youngster
Gerardo Bruna, on eight minutes earlier for Derby, was tumbled
on the edge of the area and curled a delicious left-footed
free kick beyond the ball and Potter.
The goal gave Liverpool more impetus to take the game to
United and for a while it looked as though the U's were
hanging on. Ecclestone hit a post with Potter rooted to the
spot three minutes later after a neat build-up, but United
gradually clawed their way back into the match.

Adam Marriott and Jordan Patrick replaced Beesley and
Parkinson on 79, and two minutes later they combined well to
tee up Dan Gleeson. He rode a challenge and unleashed a
30-yard swerving thunderbolt that was somehow turned behind at
full stretch by sub keeper Martin Hansen. Bruna's goal was
good but Gleeson's would have been fantastic had it gone in.
The home side kept battling away and on 87 had another
opportunity when Chris Holroyd picked out Patrick with a
raking pass, but his cross was headed behind for a corner.
Liverpool finished strongly but United held on to lose by just
the single goal.

Full-time: 0-1

BRUNA MAGIC SEALS CAMBRIDGE WIN
Steve Hunter 28 July 2009
A superb free-kick from Argentine starlet Gerardo Bruna earned a John McMahon managed Liverpool XI a 1-0 win at Cambridge United on Tuesday night.
The former Real Madrid youth player came off the bench and curled home a trademark set piece.

Summer signing Chris Mavinga made his first start for the club and played the full 90 minutes at centre half alongside Spaniard Daniel Ayala. The French defender, who made his debut as a second half substitute during Friday's outing at Tranmere, is equally comfortable at centre half and left back.

McMahon made a whole host of changes on the night and Academy products Nathan Eccleston and Adam Hammill gave lively displays.

Swedish starlet Alex Kacaniklic made his first start of pre-season since graduating from the Academy to Melwood during the summer and he had his moments on the left wing during a 60 minute run-out.

The U's welcomed their new boss Martin Ling who was paraded to the crowd before the kick-off.

Dutch striker Jordy Brouwer had some good openings in the first half but came out second best in a duel with the Cambridge stopper.

The introduction of Bruna, Eccleston and Hammill changed the game in the second half as Liverpool's youngsters turned on the style.

McMahon was delighted with the attitude and application of his young team and he told Liverpoolfc.tv: "It was a pleasing performance and we played some good football.

"Gerardo does strike a good ball from a free-kick and funny enough he scored three of them in training yesterday, so it was nice to see his work pay off on the night.

"Mavinga played his first 90 minutes for us and did well. He is a very athletic lad and he took up some good positions at the back for us."

A Liverpool XI are next in action on Friday night when they visit Notts County, who have former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson on their staff. Kick-off at Meadow Lane is at 7.45pm BST.

Liverpool team: David Martin (Martin Hansen 45), Stephen Darby (Emmanuel Mendy 60), Steven Irwin (Christopher Buchtmann 45), Daniel Ayala, Chris Mavinga, Victor Palsson (captain) (Adam Hammill 45), Ryan Crowther (Nikola Saric 60), Vincent Weijl (Vitor Flora 45), Jordy Brouwer (Nathan Eccleston 60), Andras Simon, Alex Kacaniklic (Gerardo Bruna 60).

"Curled a delicious free kick beyond the ball and Potter?" I'd send that in to "Private Eye" if I were you. 😉

Yes, I somehow picture whoever wrote it as having his tongue sticking out of one side of his mouth as he typed, nodding excitedly to himself.

When I was an inmate of our alma mater I sometimes heard it suggested that "Two-Way Family Favourites" wasn't just a radio programme out in the Fens. Perhaps that accounts for this.
