To add to the ever growing amount of travel threads on the GC, here is another!
I'm going out to California in July for about a month with a couple of friends. I think we have a general plan of arriving in san francisco, renting a car and driving around to the local national park type areas (Nappa Valley, Lake Tahoe etc), then spending a few days in the city, road trip it across to LA with maybe a stop on the way and then spend some time in and around LA before finishing off with a few days in Vegas.
Just wondering if anyone who has been out this way before has any tips on good places to visit? We're thinking a trip to San Diego could be nice, maybe Sacramento too.
Also, has anyone had any experiences with car hire out in the States before? We're all going to be under 25 so expect to pay a premium on any hire cars but are hoping we will be ok to get one that we say pick up in SF and then use for the month and hand in at Vegas.
