What is everyone's take on this? I see SOS have distanced themselves from it anyway. What is our resident American poster's take on it?
Do ye find it offensive or do ye understand it is solely directed at the owners and not USA as a nation?

Was drastic action needed or is this too far?

In my opinion, it's all rather embarrassing.

'Blow me fuck face' should be the standard response towards most of these experts

How does burning a flag constitute drastic action? It's just infantile.

SoS decided to go with the ethnocentrist approach a while back with yanks out and all of that, so I'm not in the least bit surprised that there is some of this sentiment going around.

If it got picked up in the media at large, it certainly would do more harm than good to Liverpool.

Unofficial gathering is being sounded in the media.

The funny thing is that they want it to get picked up in the media.

Breaking news, bouts of impotent rage broke out around Anfield tonight.

I understand it is directed at the owners and not the nation, and I still find it offensive.

There are much better ways to protest the owners than to burn a flag.

Like Fark said if the media was to take this and run with it, it would paint the club in a very bad light here in the states.

I have to be honest I am hurt by it, I know the owners are a sensitive subject and all, but I always thought our supporters had more class than that.

I'd do it myself if it would get the owners to sell up and quickly and thats with the possibility of being thrown in jail. But it won't so its just childish and silly.

It is almost as embarassing as the burning of the Gerrard shirt incident.
They have been watching far too many newsreels of the middle east

I was having a chuckle to myself looking through a bit of the RAWK meltdown today and spotted the bit about the gathering, SoS were apparently trying very hard to disatnce themselves from it, although it obviously was SoS members.
They fell just short of the projected numbers of 10,000 by about 9,500 apparently.

Didn't their video state something along the lines of "This is war"?

And now they're trying to distance themselves from this sort of stuff, eh? Brilliant.

Complete agree.

They're ignorant idiots.

I hope people in general don't think all Liverpool fans are like this.

although it could endear us to middle east investment I suppose, it might have to become mandatory at all home games

Good point Vlad! ;D

I wonder when Sons of Shankly are to start merger talks with Hezbollah?

Ha.

Seriously though, these dumb fuckers are tainting our club. The sad thing is people think they represent us, which they dont.

On a side note I saw a post on another forum that had Rafa referenced as the 'Spanish Shankly'.

I can see why the locals wouldn't really give a fuck for the feelings of the American fan base.

But burning a flag is always an offensive gesture, and one which is made completely laughable when it's aimed at only two people.

It's attention-seeking cuntery of the highest order.

I made mention of that in the same thread. Let's see how long I last before getting banned.

No can do. I only saw the reference on another site, someone posted in a post from RAWK. I'm not on RAWK, that's why I was asking Farky to provide the info.

I read the Spanish Shankly thing on RAWK too. I have to say, reading RAWK today, I was genuinely embarrassed.

Tell me about it boss! They're legitimate morons, (except any folk from here who posts on there!!).

Ah I'm sure people see it for what it is, just a few morons. On another note, why didn't they just get a replica of those two lads from the muppets, and burn them instead 😉
