My boy Sane scored one and set up one today in Schalke's 2:0 win. Should have had at least 2 more assists, but his teammates kept missing from great positions. Absolutely dominant performance from the youngster. Matip and co. earned another clean sheet. Doesn't look like either of them has any chance of leaving in January, but I hope we get both in the summer.

Borussia Dortmund also won 2:0, despite Hummels spectacular own goal, that was somehow chalked off for a foul. Aubumeyang with both goals, he is on fire.

Seen Sané yesterday, going to be one hell of a player. I'd be putting all efforts in getting him in the summer, unfortunately I think Bayern will get him

He would be inSane to join Barca right now. No chance of game time. Don't think Bayern need him either, they have no shortage of great wingers. I'm far more worried about English clubs.

Let's try to switch our minds off our bunch of useless feckers for a few minutes...

Schalke won 3:0 over Wolfsburg (with Draxler making an unhappy return against his former club). Another clean sheet for the partnership of Matip and Neustadter, Sane wasn't particularly impressive judging from the highlights, but another midfielder Klopp is supposedly following – Johannes Geis (he's a DM/CM type) – scored a nice free-kick for the 2nd goal. He takes most of Schalke's set pieces, good right foot.

Bayer and Bayern played a 0:0 draw. Müller and Lewandowski uncharacteristically missed several great chances. Xabi got dismissed in the 84th minute for a 2nd yellow – nothing vicious, just a professional foul on Chicharito. A little hiccup, but Bayern machine rolls on.

Gladbach thrashed Werder 5:1. Xhaka was serving the last game of his suspension, so didn't feature. Austrian CB Martin Hinteregger (with whom we've been briefly linked last year) made his 2nd start for his new club (came on loan in January). He conceded a clumsy penalty that accounted for Werder's only goal. Alongside him is another promising young CB Andreas Christensen (on loan from Chelsea and one of Bundesliga's leaders in several statistical categories this season). @Kay Age El, can you tell us more about him? Anyway, he scored two goals in this game, both assisted by the young Syrian CM Dahood. I have to say I like him more and more; it would be amazing for all Syrian people with everything they are going through if their nation can produce a top-class player, and that's what Dahood increasingly looks like.

Finally, Borussia Dortmund drew a blank against Hertha Berlin, not much to report there other that Mourinho was in the stands.

I would cry tears of joy if we signed Geis and Xhaka. Fucking great players who have a strong desire to win.
Xhaka already has picked up three red cards this season and you know what, I don't mind that.

Cheers for the running updates on the Bundesliga, it's a great league at the moment - and I am totally with you and everyone else when it comes to that Sane-lad, he looks a rare talent.

Andreas Christensen
First of all he is not normally in the 'goals' so to speak, those were his first and second senior goals respectively.

Secondly, he is like an upgraded version of Daniel Agger and I obviously love him.

Every bit as classy, cool and calm on the ball, amazingly clever in positioning - his age taken into consideration (19) - but even so when compared to older players like the ones we've got right now, he's simply a head above in that department.

Unlike Agger, he is also deceptively fast and rarely injured. Okay, he's so young, so injuries (hamstrings) could still arrive but if we are using Agger as comparison again he's generally more athletic build overall compared to his injury-prone compatriot.

When Gladbach drew at Juve earlier this Season in the ChL the Italian medias awarded him with a MOTM and the most eager ones compared him to Nesta - he rarely had to make a tackle as he simply placed himself where the ball arrived, was impossible to go around, won every direct duel at pace and strong in the air. Something like that. He is also first in the running to be awarded with Gladbach's player of the year.

He is the closest thing in a long while to how I remember Alan Hansen as a player, he even looks a bit like him.

So, why haven't I talked him up on these boards in the past - well I have mentioned him a few times as searches will reveal, but come on he is on Chelsea's books and been so since he was 15, and they rate him as their next big thing. Not a place we normally pick our players from, so there.

However things have changed a bit and who knows, maybe their new/next manager have got their own ideas/players to boot, and an opening could occur but he will be £20M expensive I reckon and highly sought after. Probably never going to happen for us, but he is a fine sort indeed.

Appaz our scouts have been following this lad a lot. Potential 10 mill move. Replacement for Moreno?

And Rurik, I thought Dahoud was German?

He was born in Syria (the Kurdish part), but brought to Germany as a baby. He plays for Germany national youth teams, but still has a choice to make between Syria and Germany for the adult NT. Pretty sure he'll choose Germany, given the situation in his home country.

Three red cards makes him an idiot.

Perhaps. I look at it from a glass half full perspective. He's aggressive and wants to win. Something we are severely lacking. Plus, he's only 22.
By that logic we should be all over Lee Cattermole!

*I like Xhaka but the amount of red cards are slightly alarming.

Being sent off after 20 minutes hardly helps your team to win. Especially if it's for some petulant stuff that has nothing to do with the game. Some people just never learn to control their temper.

@rurikbird - how did Leon Goretzka do in the Schalke games you watched? Statistically, this kid is slightly better or on a par with Xhaka in intercepting and blocking passes / shots.

@Holle is a big believer in this kid, as I see from the forum search.

He's an interesting player, caught my eye on a few occasions, but I need to see more of him. Not sure what's his best position.

Week 21:

Gladbach lost to Hamburg purely on the basis of their defensive errors and inability to defend corners. Commentator said that they concede more than 50% of their goals from set-pieces – it's good to know there are teams who are worse than us in the world in that department! Xhaka was back from suspension.

Augsburg lost 1:3 to Bayern – not sure you can glean much about Augsburg's form from that; everybody loses to Bayern. Lewandowski with a clinical double.

Schalke lost 1:2 to Mainz. Belhanda who just came on loan from Dynamo Kyiv scored the only goal for Schalke after a peach of a pass by Goretzka and good work by Sane and Meyer. Matip had nothing to do with either goal conceded, first was just a good strike from outside the area and 2nd the full-back's fault.

Some stories about us being interested in Goretzka this summer.
Contract runs out in 2018.
