Former Liverpool FC Chairman Martin Broughton has received a knighthood in the New Year Honours.

Sir Martin has been awarded the honour for services to business.

The 63-year-old was appointed as the Reds Chairman in April and tasked with finding new owners for the club.

After helping New England Sports Ventures secure the purchase of LFC in October following a week of drama played out in courts in London and Texas, Broughton stood down from the position on November 30.

I can't believe you're banging on about this, Insig.

Good stuff. Things arent good on the field but at least he got the old cunt hicks out.

Martin Broughton's been around for a long time and had a distinguished CV well before he took the chair at LFC, so I wonder which influential Red got him this gong. 😉

Anyway, it's well deserved. The man himself is an honorary Red as far as I'm concerned.

a chelsea fan pretty much saved the club when previously a couple of liverpool fans almost destroyed the club.

broughton will always have my gratitude. one chelsea fan who will always be welcome at anfield.

He deserves his knighthood for getting rid of G&H

But he probably got him for removing Hodgson from london??

Insig: Lets agree that Roy is the lesser of the 2 evils and will probably be short term only.

As much as I hate Hicks, I really feel now what Shankly meant about his wholy Trinity. The fans, the players and the manager.... Directors are not a part of it. And to me Hodgson desont belong in that one!

The manager does belong in the holy trinity just not Roy.

He is a sub standard manager in a job that's way too big for him.

I can wait for him to fuck off.

Hmmm. You can't really use the argument of Hodgson being the lesser of 2 evils compared to Hicks as the term itself suggests that its a 'one or the other' situation.

Hodgson was not the price we had to pay to get rid of Hicks. We could have had the latter without having to endure the former.
