If you could bring just one player from the past to play for the current first team who would it be? It can be any player but they have to have retired and be able to justify how they would walk into the first team.

Yeah, to complement the current squad you'd be better with a defensive titan. Hansen, Hyypia or Souness.

Souness would play one game, be suspended for the next three, play one, suspended for five, play one, and then be done with it season long ban. It's not an option. I'd take Alonso instead.

My dad played footy for St Pat's in Toxteth with Ian Callaghan. They were also in the gymnastics thing together and were in the British Olympic team for some running type shit and according to my dad, top friends. A few years ago at a sportsman's dinner I went up to Ian and asked him did he remember my dad, he said no, sorry lad, no idea who you're on about. That is my Ian Callaghan story.

I'm going Ronnie Whelan. Unassuming, ruthless and no nonsense. He'd have been a priceless DM in the modern game.

Ray Clemence. The best goalkeeper we've had in my time by far and would walk into any all time Reds XI. Great shot-stopper, brilliant at dealing with crosses, brave and decisive. Would give such a boost to the defenders in front of him by his ability and communication.

It’s better than Dreamy’s. For a start, yours features Ian Callaghan.
