Anyways, I'm currently ill and having to sit through that did very little to cheer me up.

The main takeaway for me was thank god I'm not a Brighton fan. I get they have to deal with players "learning the trade" but fuck me some of their players were frustrating today. Particularly the LW. He was awful.

First of all, their keeper is a joke. Apparently he's good with his feet.

Secondly, this is one of those games where in retrospect the best subs are no subs.

It feels harsh subbing Quansah off (again), particularly with a few mins to go but I guess it is what it is.

Feels like the youngsters have all suffered a -10pt penalty across all stats since Klopp left.

Its not harsh. He looked really tired and after that deflection his head looked gone. Right call to see the game out with Konate.

Quansah had a good game bar the mistake. He’ll learn from it, we won and we move on.

Nyoni look even better now.

Win or lose, avoiding injuries is all I was bothered about. Hopefully we can use more squaddie players in the next round and they'll be a bit sharper than today.

It was nice for Jaros to get some time and start proving himself at this club. Gakpo was excellent all game. Robertson did little to alleviate the concerns of his regression.

Calling out Quansah in the first game and has absolutely affected him, he’s going to be even worse after tonight.

Shame as he did ok goal and deflection aside.

Looks like we have a decent back up for Mamardashvili

Good win, against a tricky side away from home with our 2nd choice back 7.

None of the defenders played well, although gomez was ok.

I actually thought Morton was decent but Endo was very poor.

Jones held onto the ball too long again, except when we scored which kind of proves the point.

Nyoni i thought looked right at home and really held his own and gakpos shooting was phenomenal.

Or he's had a charmed life in terms of his early introduction to the game, but now he's got some learning to do. He seemed to be incredibly confident, so this is part of it. It isn't normal to have super young, not filled out CBs doing really well.

I do feel for him though.

Well he kinda has to learn to stop making these kinds of mistakes. How else will he learn?

Harsh from the boss. Quansah looked the real deal last year. He needs the boss to allow him a mistake or two. Otherwise confidence will be shite.

No, it hasnt. If it had affected him he wouldnt have been playing his normal game. Mistakes can happen.
Young player in a new set up and focus on passing out from the back. Lack of experience is showing. He’ll learn and improve.

If he has the backbone.

Quansah did fine for 80mins, a mistake is a mistake - he's still a young boy and unlike last season against Utd, we weren't punished for it so let's be grateful for that. The deflection is cruel on him and happens to them all. In between that he still covered well for Bradley and made a brilliant Virg esque block on Mitoma.

Arne Slot: “I really like what I have seen from players who haven't played that much this season yet. They were able to play a similar style that we usually do and they brought quality into the game. It makes it even harder for me to make line ups in the next coming weeks.”

Arne Slot on Jaros: “Everybody could see how important his saves were. The first big chance of the game was for them as well. 1 vs 1. In the second half he made of course we all remember one or two saves he made as well. How comfortable he was with the ball at his foot, when to go short, when to clip the ball forward to the striker. It helped also a lot for him the quality Jarell Quansah and Joe Gomez brought in the build up.”

Quansah was also at fault for bha best chance in the 1st half. The 1 on 1 with lamptey and jaros.

The whole back 4 looked shaky. But its a back 4 that doesnt usually play, so to be expected i suppose
